Terminal UNSC Lance - Marines of Present and Future

In my Mark IV Build thread I mentioned that I had printed out a Halo 3 Marine helmet for a friend. While I wait for him to actually take the helmet, I ended up making a Tiktok with it that seems to have done decently well (over 70K views so far, though it was a total flop on IG):

A lot of people in the comments liked the idea of the modern Marine look combined with the UNSC Marine armor, and it made me think about how a lot of experiences would probably be similar between the Marines of today and the 26th Century.

So I decided that in the interest of making dumb and amusing videos, I am going to build a set of UNSC Marine armor, meshed with 21st Century elements (MARPAT Cammies, pit vipers, energy drinks, etc).

I am still going to give this helmet to my friend. I have printed out the parts for the recently released Galactic Armory Halo 3 Marine helmet to use as my own. To allow myself to build multiple "characters" (either for storylines or just to differentiate between them in skits), I will print multiple visors and shields and attach them with magnets or velcro so that I can easily swap them out without needing a bunch of almost identical helmets (though I may still eventually go that route). Currently the plan is to have at least two options, and then eventually add in some soft covers, plus I have seen some files for a pilot helmet if I decide to add in a Pelican pilot character.

For the rest of the armor, I am using Moe's Halo 3 Marine armor files. I will probably also eventually build out his Halo 2 Anniversary set, and I think I saw that Titlewave has the Infinite armor available. I'd like to keep adding various props to the project so I can keep expanding the universe, with the requirement that I build as much of it as possible (so I'll have to level up my sewing skills for some of the uniforms).
Modern Touches: For the modern aspects, I am going to use the woodland/desert MARPAT Cammies that I own. I also intend to include crayons and ripits, the pit viper style, and some modern morale patches (ideally with a Halo-twist).

Weapons: Currently I have the assault rifle (Galactic Armory) and Carbine (Moe) available as props, though I should probably finish another pistol and I'd like to add a BR soon.

Plotlines/Project Concepts:
For anyone not familiar with "Terminal Lance", it is a webcomic made by a Marine that tells stories about the less glamorous, more realistic and stupid aspects of Marine Corps life. It generally has a comical tone. I hope to capture a similar tone, with some elements of Generation Kill as well. Kind of a Live Action Red vs Blue, but probably less plot and action elements.

Some initial plans for skits include:
  • Field Day on a UNSC ship
  • Pay issues due to being in cryosleep
  • Attempting to turn in equipment but having a different weapon because a Spartan took the one you were issued
  • "F-M-K: Elite, Brute, Jackal" type of questions while on post
  • Paperwork being lost by admin
  • Getting caught watching adult content on the Halo 1 helmet HUD (need to find files for this)
  • Drawing phallic objects on Covenant and Forerunner buildings
  • That one guy in the platoon that breaks stuff on the brand new Warthog for no reason (cut up the seats)
  • Injuries not being "service connected"

Then of course random Tiktok trends as well:
  • "Did you see the Master Chief defy orders?" "I didn't see nothing. As a matter of fact, I'm blind in my left eye..."
The goal is to turn this into an ongoing series. Initially it will just be random skits with no connection as I flesh out a couple of characters. Eventually I would like to make some loose story lines to follow. I would like to start building some environments/sets in Unreal Engine 5 to green screen myself into so that eventually I can have things like Covenant vehicles/buildings in the skits, though initially I might just use screen grabs as backgrounds.

Short Term Goal:
Finish printing armor and post-process it.
Currently I have the helmet (with 2 shields), the shoulders, back armor and chest armor printed. I am currently printing a visor (clear resin) and the abdominal armor piece. I want to get at least everything above the waist done before the next video. I don't care too much about knee pads or leg/thigh armor.

Plot for next video:
I want to cover the "Dear Humanity" speech of Sergeant Johnson, from the perspective of a Marine riding in the back of one of the Pelicans. I'm thinking a portrait view of myself sitting in the back, checking my gear. As I'm getting pumped up by Johnson's speech, I shotgun a Ripit and get my AR ready to go.

I am about to scale up the Con Crunch for Anime Central in 2 weeks, so I might not be able to make much progress on this until after that Con, but I don't have a lot of things to print for that Con, so I should be able to churn out most of the armor parts and maybe even the parts for a BR.
