I will explain why hot glue is so important. If you don't fiberglass or Bondo your piece and just go to painting it, you will see the tape lines which looks really trashy. And if you do fiberglass it, the fiberglass will eat your tape. You will have a pile of toxic smelling paper.

Tape ruins pepakura, I'd use either elmers all purpose glue, or hot glue. Hot glue is the best you can use.
