i want to try making some spartan armor or maybe a marine i dont have the slightest clue where to begin or what material to use

Please avoid starting new threads dedicated to general questions.
As you are just starting out with this hobby the best suggestion I can give you is to read as much as you can here on the site. There are many ways to approach almost all aspects of armor building and the only way to get a true appreciation of any of them is to look through a multitude of build threads, help (sticky) threads, and tutorials. A good place to begin is Roadkiller's reading list (http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/30542-NOOB-reading-list).
Once you've taken time to research on your own please direct any questions you may have to an appropriate help (sticky) thread, as hellome mentioned above.
