Why Can't I See My Avatar?

first off, if this is bad place to put im sry, but im still new here.

i have searched this, but got nowhere. I have uploaded an anvavtar and saved the changes, it is the proprer size and everything, it even shows it on my profile if i go to it, but it will not show up on my posts.

Can i just not see it, but other people can.
-or-
is it that im still a noob to the site, and it comes with time or something.

because i have a bunch of photos i have made in gimp, but i cant see any of them on this site
