Just letting everybody know that I will be without an xbox for a few months, probably, due to my xbox taking a dump on me, and neither I, nor my parents, can afford the $100 to repair the stupid thing..

I have one with the same problem..
It didn't even turn on at first, so I looked under the hood and replaced a micro resistor with one form a ps2 (its was pretty close) and it manged to turn on, but the damage to the gpu was already done.

So I painted the 360 in a pretty Pink color to match my 360 controller :D

The XBoX 360 warrenty is 3 years free ! You have only one thing to do... contact Microsoft and you have a new one free !!!

The 3 year warranty only covers Red Ring of Death, all other problems are one year. And most of the time you get someone elses refurbed box, not a brand new one.

However you CAN claim it intermittently gets RROD. Tell the rep sometimes it gives you the red warning and sometimes it doesnt. Might work out for ya.

Theres also a place advertised in Xbox Magazine that repairs for $80 i think. You send them the Xbox, the diagnose it and give you a price. if you like the price then they fix it, if not they send it back to you.

Unfortunately for me, I did the repair attempt about a week before Microsoft's announcement on the warranty extension.. I wasn't happy about that ;)
