Blood Raven

So you're not doing the Blood Raven color scheme anymore? The first one looks like a mix of Imperial Fists' emblem and the Iron Fists' color. Dunno what the 2nd is.


The link is broken but yeah, that's Djinn's file collection. Das Brutus also made a Black Templar suit. I'm digging the World Eaters, though (post-Heresy version, the bunny ears and all )

Although I like the original red color scheme, I want something slightly different and that will have a easier way to add damage effects. So, I thought that the lighter colors would show cracks and I will use my art techniques to reveal damages. The Logos are not decided yet.

Makes sense. The WH40k universe also has a very rich palette that you can pick any color scheme and there's a good chance that there's a legion that uses it.

This could also be a good color and theme.

I was actually disappointed when I first learned of their pre-heresy color scheme since it didn't quite fit their battle methods. Maybe I just have a soft spot for something red, which is why I like their current form:

My first paint scheme was going to be red. But then I thought, well I have all their games and remembered that you can paint your own trooper so that is what I did and thought, "oooh, this is nice" as I went somewhat towards the lighter costumes. Though I will have to use some mods to create that same chest-piece because, the one I am doing is more or less a blank slate and you can kinda add anything you want. Not going to be picture perfect, then again it is my first project.

If you need one, I have three types of chest accoutrement that might be of interest to you: an aquila crest, a bandolier (like the one on the image) and a skull with 2 chaos arrows. The bandolier is the only one that I have unfolded so far.

Some great work here so far, You helm is coming out great! I'm sure you saw Djinn's pep build on these forums. He's a good person to speak to about making the armor wearable.

chest came on toooo small, had to scratch....

sanded

ran out of bondo and hardener, so I used whatever I had left to fill in the shallow bits.

there will be more work done on it tomorrow, as I will get some more bondo and try to cut the eyes out

Everythhing looks good on this starting out so far except the chest which looks just a little bit smaller than normal, a suggestion for the helmet layout put the speakers into the hose fittings, the spycam into the mouth, if it's in the forehead you'll have to looks down probably to see in front of you, but leave the 3.5 in screen where it is.

yeah. The chest I will re do. Its off by a good couple inches. I thought of putting the speakers by the mouth and camera up in there stone. But your idea does sound good. I'll have to look into it today after work.

half painted a coat of "filling primer" which kinda did some good.

the mouth I will work on more on monday, also the eyes need work.

there is still fair amount of work left. I thought that I will not make this picture perfect helmet because that will really benefit the war-torn effect. But sanding and putty is a must on some areas.

That said, can someone fill me in on who this Blood Raven is? I'm not a Warhammer 40k fan at all, so I know nothing about this...other than it looks really awesome!

I'm not a HUGE fan of 40k, but I wanted to do something different than halo halo halo halo halo...Blood Raven is a division to Space Marines from Warhammer.

Blood Ravens are the space marine legion featured in the game Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War and they look like this:

Here a good source of information about the Blood Ravens. I don't do tabletop wargaming nor RTS games but the stories, like Halo, are compelling.

Technically speaking, this is a Blood Angel space marine of the 2nd Company. Blood Angels look almost like the Blood Ravens except for the color scheme of the shoulder armor.

Anyway, I'm curious at the type of mod you have in mind for your costume. I'm surprised at how fast you're finishing the helmet.
