dang, i just started mine, what do you use to cut it out of the foam? My other question would be, how do you make the chest piece look so detailed even when it is foam? :O thanks, your build looks awesome, i wont be ready before rtx.
Thanks, what i use to cut the foam is a box cutter that i heat up with my heat gun, i'd rather use a hot knife, but i can't find any in my country (mexico btw, if anyone can tell me where to find one)
For the detailing
I use 2 methods, depending on what i'm working on
I use craft foam to add layers of detail (best ilustrated in an early post in this thread, when i'm working on the helmet)
The second, wich is the one i mainly used in the most recent pieces, is slightly cutting the detail on the foam, then heating the piece with my heat gun, and the lines become a bit easyer to see
I also try to make the details take more contrast when i paint
Hope this helps
Now, i did a few things this weekend
I made some new boot armor pieces, since i bought some cheap sneakers at a flea market (blue, of course) , since the shoes i used originally were incredibly cheap... But incredibly uncomfortable
Now i want to be able to walk... Maybe even run and not look like i'm in pain
I plasti dipped those and also the hip plates
Now, instead of the second ab plate, i'm planning to make a fanny pack... Erm... I mean... advanced military pouches, similar to the one i made for my old torso piece, to carry around my phone, id, money, maybe an energy bar... Essential stuff for surviving a con
I'll also buy some elastic straps to attach the boot armor to the shins and also wrap it around my foot, similar to an old red hood build i did a while ago
Hopefully i'll get my undersuit by the end of this week, i'll put velcro on some pieces so they stay in place (thighs, butt, hips, advanced military pouch (not a fanny pack dammit) and shoulders), then i put it all in a box and ship it to austin!
