Foam Halo CE M90 Shotty

OOO that shotty looks so fine
I love the CE m90 so much, are you planning on doing a custom paint job or making it look like CE?

Today's progress.
Beveled the top edges to prepare for dremel to round out the shape. Put in the grip detail insert, and started building the front end pump thing. 20240408_181548.jpg20240409_180825.jpg20240409_183408.jpg20240409_183736.jpg
I also discovered that the prop has a slight twist. When I shouldered the prop, it felt odd. It must of happened when I shoved the dowel in. Not much I can do to fix it.

I haven't done anything new with the 2nd prop. It's still at the same point from my last post.
But...
Today was Foam Clay day!!!!
There are a tonne of visible layer lines and uneven spots. So I pulled out my tub of foam clay and started slapping the stuff on.
Why does it always look so ugly after it's applied???
Now to let it cure for at last 24 hrs and then sand it smooth.

Is that a GuN?!?11/1??

In all seriousness though, progress looks good! How does foam clay compare with using caulk? I've never used it but it's intriguing

Compared to caulk there is more work when using foam clay to fill gaps and seams.
The surface has to be moistened so the clay can adhere better.
The clay has to be kneaded to make it easier to be worked with.
After its applied to the gap or seam, you have to work it with a wet finger to smooth it out and make sure the edges of the clay are blended into the surface. If not there's a chance for it to peel.
Then after curing for a minimum of 24hrs comes the sanding.

Today's progress report:
First prop has had all the foam clay gap filling sanded down. Used a wood burner to put the screw holes on the pump and made the tac light from foam.
Originally was going to use a mini flashlight but it would have made it front heavy and awkward to hold with one hand.

The second prop had foam clay sanded. The top half was rounded into shape with rotary tool and a foam tac light attached.

Getting closer to finishing the second M90. The small amount I've had to work on it was mainly the front end. The tube on the top had the end rounded with a rotary tool and glue on. The pump has been assembled and a butt pad had been put on the stock (can't really see it in the photos). It just needs the top rail and the detail greebles and it's done.

After comes sealing, priming and paints!

Foam Smithing is wild to me, this is really impressive.
