Hello all. I feel so left behind what with all the new style weapon props contained within these pages. But here I go.

I started this personal project a while back just because I think the m6 series of sidearm has a very visceral look and feel to it and like all of the UNSC weaponry appears very feasible. Aside from the size of the thing I can easily see some armed force out there fielding the m6g into battle. I had progress going at a pretty good clip when I heard that Halo:REACH was in the works. I got a look at some of the gun goodness screen-caps from the game and fell into a depression, because I promised myself that this time I would not start second project until I was finished with the first. As a result The project got stalled shortly after I did the Hangul detail atop the slide.

The other day I friend came over, saw it on my desk remarked about how good it looked and asked me when I was gonna finish the disowned project. I could think of no good reason to start back up and so here I am posting WIP pics.

FYI The Project is: pink insulation foam sandwiched between foamcore with a thin coat of an acrylic gesso/white glue/baking powder 'putty' I mixed up then spackled on. With bits of styrene and ball bearings added. The only tools used were small rasps, sandpaper of various grit, exacto knife, and a jewelers file...(and my hands of course). Scale is based loosely,VERY LOOSLEY on Wizard of Flight excellent diagrams.

Thanks dude. I feel like a ballerina on opening night whose tutu has a huge mustard stain on it. Hellauva way to get started huh?

yeah i did the same thing when i first posted. its a lot better just to put links cuz i can't figure out how to get them to not be broken. it looks really good dude. its gonna look amazing when its done.

Thank you ManxSpartan.
Take heart my friend. With practice and patience you too will be able to create your own world out of scratch. I think the the key is to start small.. This is my first prop and the amout of trial and error I've experienced is ridiculous. I can only imagine what it would be like if I had started with a helmet or chest armour. SHEESH.

Thanks for the compliment Sabre. I feel encouraged. I think the quote in your sig embodies the spirit of all the members on this forum. If the wise Sun-Tsu were alive today I'm sure he'd be spending all his time folding pep files and rondoing his Hayabusa into the wee hours of the morning....but then again, maybe not. :)
(forgive the historical inaccuracy)

Wow... niiiiiice work. Little rough, but nothing some quality time and sand paper won't fix. Definitely on your way to fine M6 there. How'd you do the lettering in the first picture for Misriah Armory? It's a little hard to see, but looks nice and straight, and I know some people get thrown off trying to keep their lettering straight.

Thanks Castellan_C.
The roughness of the thing has been of some concern for me. On the one hand if I mold it as is, with the little dips and tool marks, it will look more like some sort of hammer forged, rough hewn ordnance manufatured quickly during a time of war like some of the japanese pistols recovered after WW2. OR....I smooth it up and make it into a kind of commemorative presentaion piece, sorta like Patton's pearl handle pistols.

As far as the lettering, what you see is the place holder for what comes next. I have a technique I haven't perfected yet (but is coming along) which involves printing out the Misriah trademark on lables and then lightly placing that label on some metal tape and then using a soft backing while I trace the lettering. The metal tape will then go onto The Project and blended inot the area with some putty. When its all done it should look like one piece.

Nice eyes. I suppose you also noticed the cob-webs.

Hey Four-O-Fiffer's!
Here's a very small (and kinda lame) update. A little foamcore gores a long way. the little nib at the top of the trigger is
shortstroketrigger.jpg

meant to compress a spring inside the frame, which will return it to the ready postision.

The styrene piece is what I sumised to be the magazine release. It will work much in the way an m-4/m-16 mag release functions.

M6g is the game. Baby steps is my name.
doh

A very rough concept of my enhanced Magazine design

Based on a single stack .45 magazine holding 8 M225 "Semi-Armor-Piercing" High-Explosive pistol rounds.

this is the most amazing M6 that I've seen so far
Dude. Seeing as you've been a member since 2008 and have over 850 posts (= been around the block)...I got goose bumps when I read your compliment.

:) will you be my friend pleeese :p
(no homo)

Another small update.

To me the grips on the M6g have always appeared to be made of some sort of rubberized metal or hard plastic surface. This is my attempt to duplicate that effect using some acrylic paint, baking soda and baking powder, some elmer's glue gesso and some 'wet' water.

it's all waterbased

It's the wee small hours of the morning here in New York and what started out as a test became a full-on application, so I didn't take any prep pictures. I'll post pics of the process when I do the other side.

***I want to be clear that this is a 'standard' size magnum in the (M) series of handguns. The subjects of Section III's experiments may still be able to use it. However unlike the 'upsized' version, the handle on this model is has been optimized for use by the regular servicemen and women, whom make up the bulk of the UNSC battle fleet and armed forces.***

:)

I've been unusually indecisive about the dummy rounds i'm gonna make for this thing. I've read that the standard mil-spec round for the UNSC's m6 is The 12.7x40mm M228 Semi-Armor-Piercing High-Penetration (abbreviated M228 SAP-HP) is a type of .50-caliber round.

But that doesn't make sense. High pen AND semi-armor piercing??!! Also the pic provided looks like an oversized 9mm. That can't be right can it? So I've decided to embellish and create my own.

But I don't know which to choose. What say you 405th?
