ODST WIP (pic heavy) first build to be finished

Hey All!

I have been a lurker for a long while and never created an account up to this point, but now that I've been working on two suits of armor (one Mjolnir MK.6 (got destroyed by rain) and an ODST) i feel i have sufficient work done to begin showing my progress and get some (hopefully) positive feedback. here is some pics of my MK. 6 armor

I'll have some more pictures of my progress up a bit later, but thats all for now. please give me some feed back for how its looking so far, i would love to hear from you.

Helpful hint=odst armor can sometimes be more of a pain then MJOLNIR armor.

This ^

MJOLNIR has a lot of detail built in, but ODSTs have a lot of pieces. My armor has 22 pieces, not including my knife, and comm unit, plus the backpack which isn't even finished (re-pepping it too).

I love ODSTs, but they're a lot more difficult than people think. Good luck!

i know what you mean by that. when i was building my MJOLNIR armor i was flying through the high definition models, but i didnt get much past that. i got the pieces resined, and the rain destroyed it before it could dry. with mjolnir there's only around 15 or so parts plus guns, but im planning on fully decking my ODST out. i am going to be making mjolnir armor to, so maybe i should just do the mjolnir armor first... i have all of my ODST armor resined, so its safe to sit for a while without becoming damaged. anyways here's what i've been working on as of thus far.

Thank you Thorn! Just a quick question though, i've read a lot of the posts about how much harder the weapons are to build than the armor itself, and i was hoping to buy some once ive finished my armor. How do i get Infantryman status? from what i understand you have to be infantry to get to the classefieds section.

i finished the bondo on the biceps and primed them. here are some progress pics

im sorry for the bad picture quality, i have to use my ipod for i currently do not have a camera. i'll do another coat of resin and fiberglass on my torso peice tomorrow and begin the bondo work with that. more pics on the way

Infantryman status...For now just keep building it will get you to Infantryman allot faster. Other than that is all about how many good quality post you make on the forms. They want you not only be here, but to be part of the form. :cool

I hope that helps answer you question.

witch file are you talking about? for the helmet i am using it came with a large file i downloaded containing MK. 6 armor, all of the variants, reach armor, weapons, and ODST packs. i am using Kirrou's chest and bicep plates, and the torso is the V.3 small neck.

and thank you thorn is there a specific number of posts that i need to acheive..?

i got the pieces primed, sanded and sprayed with a metallic base coat, i'll spray them black tomorrow, for now though, this is what i have

I'm not sure anymore, it's rumored to have gone up. I made Infantryman in about 4 months of just crawling around the forms and my build.

I got my Bicep pieces done, and battle damaged!
before dry brushing...

And After!!

I love how these turned out, i think the battle damage is perfect for the other peices too...

and okay, thank you thorn... by the sounds of it i'll be able to buy a weapon just in time for when i finish my armor... i've tried making them before...

but they arent kidding when they say doing weapons is harder than doing the armor... i might try doing a spartan laser, but i'll take a massive amount of time on it and get it done right.

YES the weapons are MUCH harder than the armor lol. your lucky your pistol came out good, my first attempt came out stupidly awkward. So I threw it away. Anyway, I've looked and SERIOUSLY considered doing the Spartan laser. Unfortunately the one in the 405th's pep pack (1.7 I think) doesn't have the corresponding numbers... So you may need to find a different file. Plus it's like 30 friggin pages, and my mind wanders around too much for that lol.

im sorry for the lack of updates recently, i was sick, and had a few exams at school, so progress has been slow. i have the chest piece rondoed, fiber glassed and bondoed, just primed it tonight, and i will be painting with a few update pics in the morning. heres the peice as it lays.

i'll be doing a chromed gold color for my seccondary, so im hoping i got it smooth enough that the light wont reflect badly...

Let me know what you think! i like how it turned out, but any questions, comments, critiques are more than welcome! For my next peice I'm thinking of starting hough's chest, but I don't know if it's better to work that with foam than pep... I have never worked with foam so it would be a first... But i really don't know how it would turn out...
