Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the best place since it seems there's more focus on Western armour on this site, but I was wondering if anyone could help me with suits from the anime Infinite Stratos. I figure a lot of your skills are transferable.
This will be my first time constructing something of this scale. I've made props in the past for cosplays with similar methods used for some armour on this site so I'm not a complete noob.
The suit I'm constructing is the Schwarzer Regen piloted by Laura. My boyfriend will also be making a suit piloted by Ichika. We plan on constructing the majority of the costume with EVA foam.
I have quite a few questions so I'll set it them out neatly.
1. Are there any papercraft patterns of these suits? (I doubt it, but I can manage without).
2. Our current prototype is constructed for mobility and performance purposes (concealed rollerblades! hellyeah!), with the main difference being in the legs. However, does anyone know a practical way of constructing the legs with the same scale ratio to the original? This will mostly be used for photoshoot purposes so it doesn't have to be too stable, but I'm preferably looking for something a bit more sturdier than stilts.
3. How would you suggest I attach the gravity defying parts of the costumes? (Best seen in the first reference image) Obviously some sort of clear material is in order but I can't think of something strong enough.
4. I need help with some lightning. In the fourth reference image you'll see the red beam and blue 'charges' on her gun. I can achieve the same look with EL Wire, however I was hoping to take it one step further and somehow make them light up on command (aka when the trigger is pulled) preferably with a pulsing effect to give the illusion that something has already been shot.
5. Any other suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated as all aspects of this project has room for improvement from more experienced members!
