Thanks for all the kind words guys :)

Update:
Forearms are done, now to start work on an ODST shoulder attachment.

Very nice build! The burnt effect looks really realistic. The flickering LED would definitely add to the effect though.

Update: Unable to find any pep foam templates for a Commando shoulder, I took a swing and scratch built one - which has turned out to be one of my favourite pieces so far!

I've become quite partial to brown as a secondary colour

I know the LED's need defusing, but here's a little tester of my flickering idea:
(Excuse the heavy breathing, it's hayfever season :S)

Apologies for double post! But,
ODST shoulder = Complete

So, with the upper body nearing completion the next feat will be the codpiece/belt.
This project will defiantly be smashed out during the Summer holidays!

Looks absolutely amazing! I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't try my hand at foam now myself. Loved the pepakura experience for my helmet so far but I can see the appeal of foam for armor.

This looks so nice. Defiantly subbing this. That flickering led is a really nice idea as well adds to the realism and just makes it look absolutely killer cant wait to see the final piece

Thanks very much!
And thank you TheMightySquig for getting this thread to its second page ;)
Honestly, I tried my hand at pepekura but strongly prefer working with foam for armor. As well as being flexible and padded it's also really forgiving to mistakes (brilliant for us beginners!)

Sorry for double post, but... I'm not dead! :D
Unfortunately, very little progress has been made due to exams, work, Uni etc...

However, the JFO helmet is about 70% foam-finished

And the cod piece is done also (minus strapping) and fits rather comfortably :D

Soon to come will be an abdominal plate inspired by timecon to cover up the beer belly ;)

After moving to Uni Halls, I've been unable to make much further progress.
However, I'm home for a week and lo and behold I've made some things!

So far I've managed to foam-finish my JFO helmet:

And make some well-fitting thigh pieces:

Unable to stop myself I may have added magnets to the left thigh :angel
Just in case the notion takes me to make a sidearm... (which is currently a plier)

This is a great build. I appreciate owning the mishap and incorporating it into the build. Just goes to show that nothing ever works out just as planned. But it can sometimes make it better. Excellent work on the strobing LED too. It sets it off nicely.

As my week home draws to a close, I took inspiration from gmflex and Blue Realm Studios and made a quick neck seal with foamies and webbing:

And managed to spackle the gaps of my JFO:

nice side arm

Some pretty awesome detail on here! How has this project been going? Any new progress?
Recently I've just been dabbling when I can (weekends home etc...)
But, I can safely say that the main foam-work is complete, along with about half of the spackling. Just need to upload a few pics when I get home!
