You can do it with smaller MIG welders as long as they push enough current and you have a spool gun. You'll burn through a lot of wire fast. Although with a TIG machine tacking it all together, and then applying nice small fillets for structure would be a piece of cake.
Nice work so far braytak!! Something you can do with Bondo that can make the sanding easier is to shape it with a surform when it gets to the hardness of cheddar cheese; you can still get it pretty smooth that way, then fill with a thin coat once fully hardened. It can really save on the sanding...
