i think vacuform is the way to go. ive heard of people building real ghetto vacuform pieces with little more than their oven and a vacuum cleaner. anyways, you could spray paint the majority of the visor with gold spray paint, or guild it with 24 k gold leaf if you wanted to be really fancy...

[attachment=1087:IMG_0077_1.JPG] ok, my helmet is 99% done... i painted it and it's looking good. im having some slight fitting issues with the visor, but whatever. my armor is almost done too. id take a picture of it, but it looks like a pile of cut up gym mats right now.. (which it is)...

i think if you're going to do the black thing, you should take a cue from darth vader and paint some parts of the armor silver. i think that painting something as complex as spartan armor black, you're going to lose visual detail and might need to do a little optical illusion magic to make sure...

thanks for all the nice comments, as i said, this is not suppose to look like a replica, i just want something that people will see and think "oh thats masterchief" so i basically figured that boils down to big gold visor and a squared off chin. really, i feel like im going more as Mr. Chief...

how old are you? you look young, i wonder if the helmet would fit a bigger guy... if so, you should finish it and put it on ebay, it would be alot better than those legendary edition pieces of crap that people are trying to pawn off..
