3D printed armor... how do y'all deal with arm mobility issues?

Straight arm, bent arm, shoulder raised. The parts collide at 90 degrees. If you bend further it will just push the forearm closer towards your hand

3D printed armor... how do y'all deal with arm mobility issues?

As opposed to foam I don’t think you’re supposed to have a lot of mobility with hard 3D printed parts. That’s just kinda how it is. The mobility with my first suit-up was not great. You just have to move slowly. I did not experience what you’re describing with the arms however. Maybe your...

MJOLNIR Mark VI Recon (Halo 3)

My fellow 405th members. I couldn't be happier to present my first suit up; Halo 3 Recon! Quite literally a dream come true. I worked all day long on Saturday up until midnight just to make it barely wearable for a 1am costume contest! Here are some other shots. A kinda obscured view of the...

MJOLNIR Mark VI Recon (Halo 3)

Lights maybe at a later date. Didn’t wanna bother with battery packs and soldering. TPU is not painted, purely plasti dip and I was happy with the finish. Dulled it down.

MJOLNIR Mark VI Recon (Halo 3)

First time being able to wear the chest piece! I’m so stoked how this turned out. (Disregard mismatched helmet this was version 1). Working on fitment now of pieces and foam padding. Used a combo of stretch fabric (stretch rite) and a buckle system to add tension from the chest plate to the...

Thanks my guy. That's what I'm going for on the whole build.

MJOLNIR Mark VI Recon (Halo 3)

I’ve got a recon shoulder painted and weathered. About a 7/10 satisfied with the color. Might be a little too mustard-y. Considering going with a more orange metallic, but love how the weathering turned out! Legs completed. Can’t wait to see it all assembled in full

    Halo 3 Recon/ODST Spartan build

Ah yeah I've seen it in stores, never tried it out. Looks good. Think I'll use some of that for UNSC weapons.

MJOLNIR Mark VI Recon (Halo 3)

We’ve got boots on the ground! (Literally) There are 22 pieces that make up the whole armor set, I’ve got about 1/3 painted. Expect to finish the rest by Saturday. Couldn’t be happier with the color. I like it a lot better than the rustoleum metallic I started out with. Now, it seems...

    Halo 3 Recon/ODST Spartan build

KernelArthritis Mind sharing how you attached the recon shoulders to the bicep pieces? Also, I really like the dark silver you have for example on the Hayabusa helmet. What color is that?

MJOLNIR Mark VI Recon (Halo 3)

Just sharing some more of my process. Used the spoon test as well to check out some paint / base coat combinations til I found the one I liked. Additionally to help me picture the final look, made a “Spartan on a stick.” Just a scaled down model of my armor to throw some paint on it. Pictured...

MJOLNIR Mark VI Recon (Halo 3)

The shell of the model is only 1.2mm thick. So there is a lot of empty space at the connection point. I need magnets parallel to the plane of the cut. Maybe as simple as plastic buckles. But will that create a smooth seam? Just brainstorming.

MJOLNIR Mark VI Recon (Halo 3)

My two biggest engineering hurdles in finishing this suit up; 1) Attaching the 3 pieces of the spartan boot to my shoes 2) Attaching the two halves of the torso, chest piece to the back piece, after I cut it down the middle. I'm basically looking for tutorials or other posts where either of...

    first build

With an irregular visor shape like that, I might try and search the forums for someone with a vacuum former who could manufacture the exact shape you're looking for. That visor looks pretty complicated similar to an ODST visor, not as simple as having a straight piece of motorcycle visor or...
