Ah, shutup. It sounds the same... I suck at names. Everything should be called the same name to make it easy.
The solenoids pull a few amps, but being pulsed, the current draw on the batteries shouldn't be too bad. I'm planning on using 2.2Ah SLA batteries, mounted inside the hand grip. I...
We need to meet. I'm just south of Sunnybank, and Metalfr3q is near Tooheys forest or something.
The magazine will probably house the speaker. I can get bullets, as my brother shoots a 3030 Marlin, but if you have old shells that would be awesome, and cheaper than stealing new shells from my...
We shall name him Xavier and he will become ruler of all and defender of awesome.
The circuit for the chip will be able to accommodate 4 sound clips per chip. I think this is a good trade off of sound clip quality and length against a useful number of sounds.
The sound we are using is ripped straight from the game so it will be as accurate as possible. I'll be using the in-game sound of the assault rifle actually firing.
Removing the rubber 'bumper' from the recoil unit will produce a metal clicking noise, but it won't be much more than that...
It'll be fully sealed with a water based paint first. This foam is often used in shaping custom parts for cars (body kits, intake plenums, etc) and a coat of water based paint to seal it up is all it needs.
I really should get onto the electronics. Work has been flat out lately, but I hope to...
7 years elapsed from script to movie, it didn't tale 7 years all up. There was a lot of time where nothing was being done.
And now with the tech being already done, it's all just refinements so that side of things will be much quicker.
Yea, props go to Metalfr3q for thinking of the idea. I've used the foam before, but it didn't even occur to me for the assault rifle...
The expanding foam in my car is in the reinforcing struts in my boot lid, so it sees no moisture. I would never put it in doors or quarter panels (I think...
Moar progress...
Metalfr3q got his hands on some of that foam used for flower arrangements. It's really good stuff to sculpt with. It's firm and easy to shape with files and knives and it's fairly forgiving too, the dust is just REALLY gritty... Superglue and hot glue is suitable for joining...
I use the expanding foam in body panels in my cars to prevent vibration from sub woofers. Mainly in areas like the struts in the boot lid etc. That stuff has been there for over a year in my current car with no sign of letting up at all.
I wouldn't use it for structural support though, more...
Small update:
I'm currently looking into rapid prototyping to enable us to make molds easily to fiberglass the top hood and bottom handgrip, probably the sides and stock as well. All pending price of course.....
Moar updates.
We got the 'core' of one gun together tonight. You'll see in the pictures that there is a box section along where the barrel would be inside the gun. Now, having experience with gunsmithing (my father made guns, and his best friend owns a gun store and builds guns too), I...
