I use the foam brushes because, although they eat away at the foam, I like how they absorb the resin and you can squish the brush down onto the fiberglass strip and the resin will ooze out (if you know what I mean). I've never used the hair brushes though. I think it mainly comes down to...

Couldn't you just make two visors, one with the skull carved in and one without the skull? You could make them switchable, and then you'd have better accuracy and you could choose to have the skull or not.
This build's looking great nonetheless!
I use this same technique for my molds. I find that the the acrylic paint is a must, just to ensure that there is an even mix with the glycerin and the silicone.

Also, I've used that same silver mirror film for a visor, but it tends to peel off if the plastic warps in any way (like if there are any slight bubbles or waves in the plastic). Other than that it works great.
