3D print finishes

When things are done printing I start the process of sanding and filling to smooth them out. This piece came out poorly with really bad layer lines and we almost reprinted it. But before wasting time and filament I worked on trying to fill it and smooth it out - now its perfect. Woodfiller and paint filler/primer friends!

do you coat it in anything before you start to paint, or after you sand and use the wood filler is it just good to go?

Has anyone in here had any luck making translucent resin prints see through? I’ve been trying to make my visor out of resin.
