there cool and all but even if 405th had stuff like that how many people do you think waould go? but it would be fun to watch.

Public events are tied to a purpose for being there, such as a charity event, an existing parade, or (pending approval) to escort Bungie/Microsft/Ensemble/etc at public functions relating to Halo, or Halo game/novel/movie "release parties".

Just like the 501st does for Star Wars

Cool... but they can't drill worth a damn.

lol I was thinkin' the saaaame thing

I'm hoping we can address that when we're up and running.. Column's especially.. Just because they look cool. I'm rusty though.. need a refresher and then I'm good to train those I run into. Anyone got a link? I don't wanna do something stupid like try maneuvaring while inverted.

Hell, I'd be proud with a formation that can "dress right" in an official looking way, and then stay that way in lockstep.

We CAN do this. We just need to resolve a handful of things before something this awesome can happen.

The biggest issue is Bungie and Microsoft. I assume, however, that the 405th can not become legally sanctioned w/o their permission, and that it will be resolved once we go official. Considering this is all copy-right infrignment, we can't pull it off w/o their support. I know the 501st got permission from George Lucas (he's a member!), and we probably would need that as well.

The next big issue is that we don't have that many people to effectivly pull off. We are mostly hanging around conventions and such, and a parade at the current stage is unlikely. However, once we recieve legal recognization we can advertise on Google, EBay, Bungie, HBO, etc... so we will likely attract a larger number of people.

The third big issue is our uniformity, or lack therof. We just don't have a single uniform everyone has to build. What I think the best course of action would be is when a new member joins, he/she recieves a file containing MJOLNIR Mk6/Mk5/Marine pepakura and very detailed instructions on how to build and paint it. Normal members won't be required to create the armor, but anymember wishing to go to a parade must have a certified suit of armor.

An easy thing to do for a parade would be to give each new member plans for marines armor, seeing as they are the simplest and most likely to be on parade. A group of people with really good marine armor could be requested to upgrade to ODST armor, adding more variety. And maybe a group of 2-4 SPARTANs could be present in each parade as well.

A fee would (I saw Adam mention that it may be something like $50) also allow the 405th to purchase a ROBOcraft printer and, as members join and pay, send each precut armor files, t-shirts, patches, etc.

The 405th has HUGE potential, and we just need to harness it.

Holy crap. That was amazing. Id love to do that. The simple fact is since our armor is not easily made as theirs, it takes much longer, but then there is more passion in it. This group is still very young. How long as the 501st been around ? Great job by them.
Not to mention the creator of the site had that many more fans unite over the death of his little girl. And Star Wars is a movie. And it's a video game (several), And it's been around since the late 70s. So all the kids that watched it in the theaters who are now doctors and such (guys with money and assumingly time) can get into these hobbies. Halo came out in 1999.

Marathon, you mean.

And wow, this thing is still going on? I thought we'd already resolved that 405th =/= 501st and anything afterwards was pointless whining from all sides.

But hey, let me know when you guys are done. I'll be in my workshop.

I meant the final Halo. Not the original concept. But your right.

Meh. Everyone thinks Star Wars has gotten kinda nerdy. Halo though...

The only issue I see there is... you are going to have a lot of people (especially the new ones) wanting to make Spartan armor.

I am all for making it easier for new people to make armor tho. That fee in order to buy the printer sounds interesting. It would: help unify the armors, improve the quality and make it is simpler for new people to start an armor.

PS. just noticed it took me almost 2 months of trolling before i posted for the first time :p

i was thinking of joining there website and having like my sig, my picture, and everything else 405th stuff and in every post i talk about the 405th, and the topic there talking about ;) so i dont get in trouble for spamming, just to see what they'll say to me

This topic died about a day before signed-up, Spud.. lol but welcome anyways.

We'd have no problem having a bunch of Spartans show up for an event, because none of them are "the master chief". They are all "just" Spartans.

Also, there are plans in the works to make the armor easier/less expensive for the average member. Hopefully they'll work out.. we'll see.

Please don't harass the 501st, and, definately don't harrass the 501st as an identifiable member of the 405th forums.

We are likely to share many of the same members, and would like to be on good terms to leave open options of potentially working with them at some time in the future. I should point out that many of our club ideas originate from there, and some of the techniques used for some of the costumes also originated there.

They are brothers, they are kin,.. they are not competition.

Well... One post in and I am already a necro

Good to hear there are plans in the works for more accessible armor.

Not to continue adding to the
revival of old topics. . .

BUT

I didn't mean to make an issue
over how old halo is, just saying it's new
just as we all are in comparison to 501st.
Guy at CCI last year was in stormtrooper armor
and come to find out he's a doctor and he's 56 years old.

Just my own thoughts here but if we want to be
as popular as the 501st we need to be strong like them too.
Not under a competitive flag and hammer
but (as already stated)
a brotherly one. They come from a galaxy far far away,
but make armor just like us.
That's plenty of room to share between us and our
armor is just as good as theirs because we're doing what
we love and making friends while doing so.
(Even 501st)
Just my thoughts there,

* goes to the workshop*

well i think spartans would lok better, i could throw a tennis ball in the middle of them and make them all fall down

Umm... what?

Anyway... I'm going to lock this, it's well past it's used by date and doesn't help, at all.
