With free time for me approaching I am considering getting started on my custom Reach armour made of foam, but I have one question before I continue along with this project, how thick does EVA foam need to be the make armour out of? As of now I can only find sheets with a thickness of 5mm and 10mm, would these be suitable to make armour with or are they too thick or too thin?

Any advice?

Cheers.

The foam I've used to make mine has all been 10mm thick and i highly recommend getting that size, anything smaller would probably be too bendable. Hope this helps, cheers!

I would recommend the same as FlyinPhil you want to build your base with this stuff

These foam floor tiles are affordable and easy to get and are strong enough to hold up the base, and then you have 6,5,and 2 mm to work with for your details which you will layer on top of it. I'm fairly certain these should be easy to obtain in NZ since the I see Andrew DFT using the same stuff and he's from NZ. Hope this helps best of luck!
