You could call this the plane Army of two helm. But i like to call it the Avenger!!(No reason at all)
It doesn't look like either, and it's on the plane side.

And here is the Rios helm. I believe it is done. So if you seen any mistakes plz tell!

All that is left is Salim and any custom i want to do!
 
looking at the wires I think at the moment that model is around 5 times to dense for pepakura. Try to model it more efficiently, you should be able to get that thing down to about 100 polys or less
 
Looking great!

Kind of off topic but I have a question for you 3d modelers, how can I take one mesh, in 3ds max and set it so one half of the mesh I'm working on is manipulated the same way the other half is? Do you just use the mirror tool?

Just work on half the model, then mirror geometry once you're happy with it.

Yes work on half first. I have Maya 8.5, so i used a polygon sphere, and went into polygon toolbar and found mirror geometry.

Also, maya doesn't export to .3ds. So can pep take any other model file, like .dxf?

I think (but not positive) that pep only reads .obj and .3ds but then again I'm probably wrong.

maya should be able to export .obj, in fact I think it was the same company that invented that file type.
 
Okay. Maya doesn't export .obj :( But i opened the.dxf in pep and this is what i got!

So i dont know if it is the .dxf file or what.

Wrong. Maya DOES export obj. Pretty much every 3d app out there exports to obj, because it's a standard file format for multiple industries.

However like a lot of other things in maya, it's turned off by default. And this is why I don't recommend maya to learn 3d on (because it's a very complicated and confusing interface/app)

In order to turn it on you want to go to Windows > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager and turn on "Loaded" and "Auto Load" for Objexport.

voila, you an now export to obj.

Did you export that when the object was under some type of mirror symmetry tool with subdivision surfaces on it? Thats the only way I can think of that you managed to get that kind of mesh.

I see, well you need to convert any modifiers to an editable mesh before you export for pepakura. Pepakura cant handle nurbs or sds, what it tends to do, if anything, is, look at each face as a set of isolated edges. It would be sweet if pepakura could deal with nurb surfaces but, in the real world paper cant deal with nurb surfaces along more than one axis so, there probably isnt any reason to include that functionality in the program.

I got it all figured out. i will have Rios's helm done and on the front page in about 10 mins. And the plane helm will be done in about half an hour!
 
wow those look great! i love Rios' mask. but a suggestion: re-unfold it in a more friendly manner. i am horrible with that kind of stuff but it looks kind of painful in a few parts. But keep up the good work, i would love for me and my friend to go as Salem and Rios for halloween!

It's just the basic unfold. If you guys want to make it more simpler, do it and i will paste the link here!

Finaly got to work on the 3d models and updated all the hems finished Salems but i need to fix a couple of things. And i think i did a great job on the neck. So have fun with the stuff guys!!!!
 
Is there any chance I can have the 3ds or obj of the Rios helm? That back piece has a lot of useless crap in it.
