Billbill Builds a CE Chief

Hey everyone!

It’s been awhile!

The past few months I’ve been honing my skills touching up my Noble Six suit and cranking out a ton of ODST helmets to help get my daughter set up with a little college fund, and I decided to start a new project for 2026 to keep myself sane between all the grey helmets I’ve been painting.

In honor of the 25th anniversary of Halo, Xbox, and to celebrate the first new(ish) Halo In 5 years I thought I’d go back to where it all started.

So I’m building a CE Chief!

I was out and saw a really nice green car towards the end of last year and that’s what kind of kickstarted this. It was the best shade of green for Chief I’ve ever seen (haven’t seen too many builds IRL to be fair, but still), so I tracked the paint down and had to hike a helmet for it. And now that I have the helmet started, I knew I needed a full suit.

Hoping to keep up the momentum through the year and have something finished before the CE remake releases, but rumor has it possibly dropping in the summer so I may just need to settle for before HaloFest, assuming me and the boys can make it out there.

So the build so far:

I used Titlewave’s CE Mark V file. Helmet is his large scaled one since I’m 6’5” out of armor. Printed in my usual Elegoo Rapid PLA + on my K2 Plus printer.

The raw print is sanded down, primed with Rustoleum 2-in-1, then hit with a base coat of Alabaster Silver by Duplicolor, followed by the Chrysler Metalic Green Paint I found.

The visor brim, details and backplate are Duplicolor Storm Grey Metallic, my go to UNSC metal color.

Weathered using my normal mix of silicone masking for chips, silver sharpie for additional scratch touch up, black acrylic detailing and then a black wash.

Visor mold just got off the printer and I’ll be pulling that later this week.

Until next time, Spartans

That looks really nice man. I think you choose an incredible green for the armor, but I was curious about something. Will the suit/helmet have any sort of lights/electronics with it?

That’s the plan, my Reach suit had lights for the shield emitters and I plan on having that, plus helmet lights and fans. But I haven’t installed those yet!

Another TitleWave CE Bucket! Will be following along with your progress as my brother and I start our Mk V's. Keep up the good work! Love that green choice. (y)
