You might be able to get the same effect from using some acrylic, if you can find it. It's worth having a look around to find other suitable materials, but this is something I'll personally be looking into. My only problem here is that gluesticks might not be as durable as other materials and are more prone to damage.

Hey, I don't want to jack anyone's thread, but you can use about a tablespoon of resin to create the same diffused effect.

Fit a straw "snugly" over the LED and then fill in the straw (steady hand necessary) with a super tiny batch of resin and catalyst. I did this for my daughter's armor and it worked like a charm. For those who have material limitations (like they don't have or can't work with fiberglass resin) I would recommend the hot glue method.

NOTE: I'm sharing this pic to demonstrate the result of diffusing the light from an LED. Our armor is quite a bit more creative than what most of the 405th strive to create - in both the color selections and the detail, but it's ours - just a mom and a daughter having some fun with armor - ya know? :) Please stay on topic for the diffused light of LEDs. Thanks.
