Can Flex Foam Be Clear Coated?

I would only use latex or acrylic paints. If you find a clear coat that is acrylic or latex then yes you can. Any other paint will eventually harden and make your flex foam it crack. You will need to repaint any rub spots on your flex foam it pieces when you are done wearing it but it is still well worth it.

No. Most acrylic paints are brush o or used in a hobby style air gun.

I've been meaning to ask you about this, since you've worked with it before.

thanks for the super fast reply.

Krylon does sell an all purpose acrylic gloss clear coat. I dont know how well that would work in the end though

wow i haven't been doing much here lately, just been watching a little.

anyways i came up with an idea that would make painting those bendable pieces alot easier. what if you put down a couple layers of latex rubber inside your mold, like the regular 6-7, to build up an outside layer to the piece then with the latex still inside after it's cured put the flex it foam it in to get the thickness and foamyness...is that even a word?... to it. i was thinking about how i would do a good warcraft ghoul costume when i came across making latex masks and figurd out a way to possibly merge the two materials. what do you think? would it work? someone wanna try it?

using the latex would make it easier to paint and would give the piece less of that porous texture and look. plus when painting you could get a similar shine to it unlike the paint on the foam which has a slightly different look no matter how you paint it.
