Hey everyone, I finally converted this Gears of War lancer model i had in to a 100% build-able pdo. Its scaled to size (1:1). ***Warning*** This is not for the beginner! I did everything i could to help it be an easy build, but the reality of it is that it is a huge model. I separated all the pieces into 5 major groups to make things a lot easier. So i suggest you scar, cut , and build in sections. Anyways, good luck.

Credit goes to original model creator at the Google 3D Warehouse. All i did was unfold and organize.

I know this is a weapons discussion, but "rules is rules". Please move if necessary. Thanx in advance.

yea i agree with last sparten after looking at it i dont think i can do it other people probably can but to much for me still awsome though

LastSpartan: I agree that creating floating faces would make the build easier, but again its not my model and you can't really edit in pepakura that effectively. I tried to create separate objects in the program, but i guess you have to do that in a CAD program, with the creators permission of course.

All in all, its really not that hard of a build guys. It looks pretty intimidating but i took a lot of time separating everything so it connects like 40 legos(40 pages, all connecting parts). Im staring mine today, so I will keep you guys updated.

I pulled it down. Guess I'll have to look at it now and see what I might have gotten myself into. Thanks for this Pain. I'm sure many appreciate it. I do.

Edit: Overall it doesn't look all that bad. May frustrate some with the barrel but not all that bad IMO.

That looks pretty good (props for the guy who modeled it). If I ever finish the armor I'm building now, I might give that a try. Thanks for unfolding and posting it up for us.

yea now that i take more time it doesnt look that bad still hard but i guess il try my hand at it with the brand new pack of cardstock i got so then maybe ill have a

Just take your time Box. Slow and steady and it should turn out pretty good. I hope to start on it soon myself. I don't think Major Pain would mind if any tips on building are shared here.

yea im going to take my time hopefully if i do good enough im going to make it fit over my piantball gun like rsloan did and i have all winter to work on it except when i work on my spike grenade

Yeah, i think it should be simplified, and the saw should be a seperate part.

Just wanted to post a small update on my progress. The build is proving to to be not as bad as it looks. Ive finished 2 of the 5 major parts of the weapon without major incident. Only advise i have as of now is to use toothpicks to apply the glue and only cut out 1 or 2 pages at a time. By the way, my build is 2/3 scale for my son, so i know that it has to be much easier for the 1:1 scale build just because its bigger. Anyways, i hope to see some more people take on the challenge.

See? I figured it just looked like a beast because of the # of pages. Looking good so far Pain. Keep us updated.

Looks great! I honestly thought this would be humanly impossible! But you handled it great so far!
But serously? Toothpics?? o_O

Amazing accuracy!

toothpicks provide more precise application of the glue than just using the bottle it comes in. Helps avoid the glue goo you might otherwise have. I use them all the time especially on small tabs or tight spots.

Absolutely, the toothpicks are for the tight spots and small tabs. I just let the hot glue gun heat up and then i just swipe the little dot of glue that drips off. It is a very effective way to go. Anyways, thanks for the cheers, it fuels the drive to finish up.
