Could Bar Top Epoxy Substitute for a Hardener?

Went to my local hardware store and unfortunately they didn't have Epoxy resin which is my preferable choice for my first project. While I know Fiberglass is better, outdoor conditions are not ideal here in Ohio and I want to use a less toxic hardener to use indoors without killing my pets and people around me.
An employee suggested I use a bar top resin since it's such a strong and durable resin that, and I quote "the frat boys in town have noted that even high heels stomping on the surface didn't scratch it." My only worries is that it might crack when fitted to the head brace i'll be using or that even weight might be an issue. The project is only going to be a full face mask and not a helmet.
