looking good. i hope you left a bit of space for some sort of padding. unless you like the feel of fiberglass chafing your cheeks, lol. are you going to create the whole suit?

Yea, there is a little bit of space in there so I can slide in some padding. It's not super tight on my head, but, then again, this is all before hardening it. We shall see how it goes once I have.

As far as creating a whole suit, I'm not 100% sure on quite yet. I think it would be cool, but it's more of a patience issue XD it is a virtue I lack at times lol

Ugh, the facepalm of realising you pepped a helmet too small. Weve all been there. But good on ya for getting the right sized one done!

I think it's the worst when you make it too big. Then you can see your failure from the inside, and outside.

Yea, well at least I am took it with a light heart. Since it is too small, I'm going to have a mini-me in Build-A-Bear form. If it were too big, I probably would have turned it into some badass light fixture or something because there was no way I was making the Hayabusa a third time XD

So my weekend is coming up and I was thinking of getting the resin part of it done for the two of them. I've seen Mstruvmgc resin before, but waaay back when he first did his helmet so I hardly remember the process. And the resin thread is just a sea of mumbo-jumbo that makes my eyes swim from all the information :p

So do any of you ladies and gentleman have any quick tips that I should remember when resining a helmet? All help would be much appreciated :$

I suggest resining a test piece or piece you wouldn't mind re-doing so you get the feel of the time length you have. When you start your helmet, putting it on a stand helps a lot. I used one of those long boxes of soda cans with a big a jar on the inside to weigh it down. Resining by sections is also recommended and adjust the harder drops depending on the climate where you live. I decrease the drops of hardener since Hawaii's temperature almost always stays in the 80's. If you use plastic cups, double up on them or use foil to line it. Using the same mixing stick might not be a good idea as it could cause the new batch to harden faster. Aaaand finally safety gear! A respirator with organic filters and gloves (lots and lots of gloves if you're messy like me 'cause the resin gets sticky fast). :)

If you got resin on you, acetone or nail polish remover works wonders, though you might ruin your manicure. ): You got patience I'm jealous for! Keep up the great work!

All this is good, The sections is important! Do in 4 or 5 passes on different parts of the helmet. Tryin to do it all in one go may Put too much strain on the already weakened paper and does irreparable damage! also if you're short on cheap brushes, keep acetone mixed with water close by to soak your brush as soon as youre done for about a minute, then wash it out!
