Foam EVA Foam cuts

Hello! I am making a Mark VI armor for my husband to cosplay as Chief. I have looked up many tutorials on mountain cuts and valley cuts but they still slightly confuse me. The thing that I am struggling with the most is keeping the foam bent with glue after the cuts. And what sides i should put the cuts on. This is my very first time making cosplay of anything. If anyone could give some tips, that would be greatly appreciated

It's basically on which way the point goes when you glue it together, mountain is outward and valley is inward. With keeping the foam bent after gluing it mainly comes down to on what the angle of the cut is and if there's a curve. You can also do a shallow V cut on the back face of the piece you're working on to help add to a curve. I guess I'm not understanding on what you mean by what side to put the cut on

Im sorry, English isnt my first language so I didnt descibe my issue well. I appreciate the reply! I found more videos and have figured out my cuts. The foam that I am using was kind of textured so i just made all my cuts on the back of it so the smooth side is facing out. Thank you again for replying!

Also, a dremel to smooth out your cuts on the inside does wonders for a crisp edge

Changing out you knife blade every so often so your cuts are smooth will help my rule is if it starts to snag time to change.

If cuts aren’t needed in certain spot and you need to just bend it, a heat gun is always useful!
