Seeing all the photos from Magfest makes me wish that I'd been able to go! The suit looks good trooper!

This build looks incredible. The finish is super clean and really pleasing to the eye. The weathering and metallic effect especially stand out; it feels realistic without being overdone.

I’m really curious about your process for the weathering and metallic look. Did you use layered metallic paints, drybrushing, washes, or something else to achieve that effect? The balance you achieved is really impressive.

I also wanted to ask about your strapping system. Where did you source the straps and hardware, and did you follow a specific method for mounting them to the armor? I’m going to be implementing strapping on my own build soon, so I’d love to learn from what you did here.

Excellent work overall, this is definitely one of those builds that looks great both in photos and in concept.

For the finish, I copied galactic armory's process of putting a silver coat on, applying some latex in spots, painting over with gunmetal grey spraypaint, then removing the latex spots to reveal the silver. It didnt work as well as I wanted in a lot of parts and the latex brought up the silver, so they lost their sheen. Then I went over with a wash of black oil paint mixed with some mineral spirits to give it a darker, dirtier look. After that i went over the sharp edges and corners with a silver acrylic paint marker. I used that to add some more silver shine in some of the paint chips as well. I finished it all with a bottle of paint my buddy had from Modern Masters called Metal Effects Primer. I thinned it and used that to get the dirty kind of rusty effect . Finish it with a matte enamel.

As for the strapping, I used an airsoft harness from Novritsch to get everything attached. Harness 3.0 – Novritsch | Airsoft

I was able to attach the chest by using the molle on the shoulders, and the extra straps hanging from it would all go on my belt to hold the thighs up and keep my pants from falling down. The shoulders were attached onto the shoulder straps as well with buckles and slip rings. I attached a velcro panel with molle to the back of the harness and used that to velcro the backpack on. It is sturdier than youd think for velcro.

My belt was also his velcro one so i could stick the belt buckle on. Im considering doing that for the butt plate too in the future. Hope this helps!
