First Project: Hellcat Armor

Hi All,
Went to my second ever convention and really love Halo and wanted to try my hand at making some Spartan armor!

I'll be 3d printing mine, specifically the Hellcat armor as shown in this post Halo 5: Guardians Hellcat Armor Build - 3D printing which was made by Shadowbreakre, so shout out to him for making the model.

Already got the filament ready to go, some 3d printing knowledge under my belt, and Armorsmith downloaded.

Some current issues I'm running into so far, the armor files are all in pieces so I'm having some issues sizing and attaching. Also having some issues with trying to merge them together in Meshmixer. I'm not sure if I'll just have to be meticulous in lining them up, if I just need to print them out separately and glue it together, or if it's difficult because there's a lack of an underlying bodysuit. I imagine it's option 2 and I'll just have to do some experimenting, but would love some feedback.

I don’t know if I’m completely understanding the issue. What are you trying to attach?

From what I read on the build you linked they uploaded the files. I know part of my suit the biceps and shoulder are separate and I have to attach them after the fact. H5 especially has pieces that basically just “float” on the undersuit.

Sorry if that is not so helpful. If you specify a bit more what pieces you want to merge I’ll try and give better in depth advice.

I appreciate the help!

I guess my understanding of the armor is that some segments need to be combined into one big piece/it’s easier to do this first. Like the chest plate combines with the back and the abs and so on. But the files are all separated and so I’m struggling to connect them all together before I resize it.

I’m basically trying to do what this video mentions at 19:08

It sounds like from your reply, the pieces are just separate and I’ll have to basically size them separately then print. In essence they’ll float on the undersuit.
