If you're going to build the FS's torso piece, check post #894 on page 45 of his thread or the link below:

He wrote a table that shows the approximate relationship between your measured armpit width and the assembled height for the torso piece.

I checked that posting out and I found that VERY helpful. I haven't gotten so far as the chest yet, but I will soon. Soon as in next month :p

The problem i think with scaling that peice is the width of the chest and the width of the under-arm pieces.
if you look and the piece in PEP Des, you will see the the space between the under-arms is smaller then the width of the chest piece. there is also a support piece that goes there. if you use this length of this support piece and the width of your torso, then you can see if it will fit the width of you (under of arms(ribs)) then the torso will fit. what you could do is just print off only that support piece to use as a measure.
what i did what i measured the distance between my arms( across my chest) i only scaled it down i little bit (maybe 2 cm off the ht.) just so i could put my arms forward better and to make the under-arms fit i just made the support-piece wider to get it wide enough to fit my torso(under-arms).

A good idea might be to tabulate scales from different builders to see what results are obtained, and how well they work according to body sizes. Personally, I'd find that a 38cm-40cm scaled FS chestpiece would fit a 5'7 person quite snugly provided that person wasn't too large or skinny.

DEAR GOD why didn't I think of that?!

Kudos, good man. I finished my chest piece yesterday (at assembled height of 43.6, and I'm 6'2") and it IS too small around the ribs. FS' new scaling method should really help, but I give a warning to whoever does it that way, their piece may come out taller/longer than they'd like. (No one's a scaled copy of MC is why.)
