H3 Pilot Helmet File V1 Finished

Just about done with the modelling, then I'll unfold it. Should be done and released by the end of next week.

It's kind of Medium-Definition, I've not got the patience or skill for an HD version, but this one should do.
This was from scratch, I did not use the 3ds Garland offered up in his thread. This started off as a test, but decided to finish it and release it.

Any critique/ comments are welcome. I know the 'ears' could use a little more shape but I was having a lot of trouble making it all work so decided it should be bondo'd easily enough.

UPDATE 12-11-2008:

Finished it, here it is:

It's scaled to 29 cm tall, the same height as the ODST helmet. It looks like it's supposed to be about that same size, but I'm not quite sure. You might want to measure your head and see how 29cm would look compared to it before you build it, it may be a little large.

I have not yet had a chance to pop Halo 3 in for better screenshots to compare to this model (this was done from screenshots in our gallery), so I don't know how long it will be before I revise/ remodel this. I'll have a better idea this weekend, I hope. So for now:

Looks great! Mine's crap, mainly because it was my first ever 3d model (yeah, I bit off more than I could chew). I've considered redoing it, but you beat me to it. The only thing that bothers me about your model is that looks like the back kicks up too much. It doesn't look like it covers the back of your neck entirely. That might just be because it's tilted forward in the picture, but I can't tell. Either way, it's still a nice model. Good job.

@ Garland: I think you might be right about the back. I started this originally using the ref pics in the gallery, but they're not proper pictures for modeling, so I tried to adjust the model to make it look right... I haven't looked at my ref pics since I started it, so I'd forgotten about that. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll have to see what I can do to fix it.

I might release this one by the end of the week as is, and take new screenshots in H3 to see how bad it is. Hopefully I could just tweak this one.

To anyone reading/ interested in this: do you want to see this one released as-is or want to wait for a fixed one?
I don't know how much work it needs yet so I don't know how long a wait for a new one would be.
