Halo 3 ODST "The Life" Costume Piece Identification

So a couple days ago I was rewatching the various Halo commercials and shorts films for ODST ideas. In the "The Life" commercial, towards the end when everyone is at the battlefield memorial, I spotted this guy with some type of bandolier or grenade belt. Anyone else seen it before, have any idea of what it is?
