Halo 3 UNSC Marine

So bit of a heartbreaking development that I forgot to add when the rifle came in, but the postal system either in Germany or the US was very unkind to the rifle. The box was almost ripped to shreds and there was a distinct footprint on it like someone had stepped on it.

As you all can see, the stock has snapped off from the main body and now hangs loosely on the inner barrel. I've already got some emergency E6000 on order from Bezos Corp and some Gorilla Glue standing by. My goal is to coat the inner barrel with E6000 and rotate the stock so it coats the inside of the stock, then hit the broken section with Gorilla Glue and stand the rifle on the stock to make the "clamp" hopefully things turn out well!

On the plus side, it is a clean break so there isnt too much that I have to worry about...just very disheartening. A word of advice if you're having cosplay parts shipped, always remember to put fragile stickers on your boxes. Even if you pack it to hell with padding.

If you can Spartan Of Vale add a second support rod between the two pieces. It doesn't look like layer delamination so much as glue bond failure that caused the split and that was likely from twisting of the stock. Having paired support rods (or more) will help keep a piece rigid and stop chance of shearing from rotation.

Sadly I dont have the tools to be able to drill another hole for support :/

Repair Update: the E6000 is holding nicely and there is no movement in the stock now. Might need to touch up the paint a little bit later around the seal, but for now I think it's okay. Now that the glue has been left to cure for 3 days, I've moved onto securing the barrel. Made sure to have two other pairs of eyes check the alignment so its straight as an arrow. Once that's set I'll attach the carrying handle and the rifle will be all finished.

My Rocket Launcher should be here in a few days and I'll only have to attach 2 pieces for that, but ill send pictures once it arrives. (The thing is gunna weigh like 20 lbs...its so beefy lol)

As for the armor itself, my tech in Germany just sent me the tracking info for the helmet and Chestplate. The other pieces wont be done in time for MAG Fest, but I'm hoping they're done by Zenkaicon in March so ill be ready to fully deploy then.

Stay tuned for more soon!

Those boys at FLEETCOM and Misriah Armory sure do know how to put a smile on a marine's face :D built by my friend Melvin Burgos with the marine cosplay in mind, I think it should have the Banished, Covenant or Flood shaking in their boots. Anyone wanna pick me up in a Mongoose and have some fun?

Update time: Helmet and chest armor have safely arrived from my armorsmith in Germany and they turned out magnificent. The attention to detail really sets these pieces apart from everything else and they fit very well. I'm still missing the rest of the armor, but at the very least these will help get me where I need to be :)

Hey everyone! Figured 3 months later was plenty of time to pass before doing an update but I'm proud to announce that the remaining pieces of my armor have arrived from Germany today. And I couldnt think of a more poetic occurence than for it to arrive on 405th day! Seems like FLEETCOM has a sense of humor afterall.

Below are going to be pictures of the rest of the armor pieces. I have to take a look at some of the reference pics to see where things are supposed to go and make some minor adjustments, but it is with great pride that I can say LANCE CORPORAL THEODORE VALE GOING ON STATION!

And a huge shoutout to @sentinel_creations for his astounding attention to detail on this build. I absolutely cannot recommend him enough if you need a commission done.

Next step will be to make all of the minor adjustments to putting things in the correct locations and attaching straps where needed, but once that's done I'll have a full cosplay pic for you! Stay tuned

Hey everyone! It is with a monumental amount of pride that I can announce that this build is officially 100% completed. All pieces have been attached, and the outfit has survived 2 successful Con deployments. Serving with versatility as both Sgt Stacker as well as my OC Theodore Vale. Thank you so much to everyone who helped give me the tools and knowledge to get to this point and I'm so glad to be a part of this wonderful community.

Be sure to keep an eye out for future projects from me! I've still got Spark in the works as well as ideas for the future. But until then, this is Spartan of Vale signing off!

OORAH!
