This is the start of the helmet I'm building with my daughter. It's going to be a Halo 4 Deadeye. Already know I'm going to have to use some supports in the glassing phase cuz it's getting a little wonky. IMG_1922.JPGIMG_1923.JPGIMG_1924.JPG

Dude, how is it that you have 3 helmets being worked on at the same time? I'm jealous you have all of these on the burner at the same time. Wonky or not, it looks super clean. Great job.

I homeschool my kids with my wife and I decided to use pepakura and EVA foam building as an art project. It was the one way I could work everyday on the builds without my wife referring to it as my "man baby" crafts......ha ha. After the helmets are done with the 1st phase they will have to wait until spring to be finished off cuz it's so cold here in Wisconsin. That leaves all the time to build the 3 Halo 4 MK V suits out of foam. Nothing like a Halo assembly line LOL!!!!!!!!

Holly smokes..........I'm jealous and thoroughly disturbed at the same time.....Being trapped indoors w/ a "man baby crafts" lunatic.....Oh wait, I just realized.......You can't harden the helmets right now. The fumes of the hardening material and being stuck indoors is not healthy combination :sick. I have read several posts about pep warping due to not hardening in time. Are you aware/afraid of this? If I may make a suggestion, I built an ancient Spartan helmet recently courtesy of Storm the Castle. http://www.stormthecastle.com/ . His was a paper-mache build. I used foam board for the frame but instead of using the "flower in to glue" formula, I used wood glue. It hardened enough that I was able to let it stay in a frozen shed over last winter and it didn't warp. I never used this technique on card-stock so I don't know the outcome. I do have my current build that I was considering trying it out on over this weekend. I'll let you know how it turns out. I was also considering using that glue people use to harden their puzzles w/. I forget the name. Podge or Modge something.

Man baby crafts!! Haha! That is great! I better not tell my boyfriend that one or I won't hear the end of it. :lol As for the storing it, you may want to seek out the advice of someone who has more experience, but I have been keeping mine stored in a rubermaid storage bin. I figure as long as I can keep the moisture out and not have anything pressing on it and no chance of anything falling on it then I should be good. Nice work on your helmet(s) btw! (Oh and I was homeschooled too. Good job on that, I know it takes a lot of work and patience. My advice is make sure they have some kind of outside social activity. Mine was a homeschool group at the YCMA which met twice a week. My younger brothers go to a Chrstian homeschool group class once a week. It really rounds out the development to have those social interactions.)

Thanks for the info on storing the pepped pieces. We have been homeschooling the kids for their whole school life. My daughter graduates next summer and my son is 15. They are probably more social than kids in public school. Cosplay has really helped in bringing out all of our artistic and social qualities. Keep calm and pep on..........

Artists are cool people ;)

Also, wow this helmet looks really interesting so far! :O

So what you're telling me is that they are a lost cause.. Haha, I'm just kidding. That's cool, dude. Cosplay seems to be a really safe community. At least with my experience in LARPing. I'll keep an eye out for your updates. Looking forward to more pics, maybe another goofy one with a helmet top on your mug! :) Keep it up!

Sorry about that. Won't happen again. I agree. Should have had brain engaged before putting the mouth in gear.

The work being done on this helmet is in my MK V thread. I will post the completion pic here when I'm done.
