Foam Halo 4 spartan build

A few months ago a friend asked me for help to make the armor for his Spartan from Halo 4 in the MCC.

So I started by getting the models from the mcc and began applying the textures from the capture that you sent me, and then adding customized colors.

After that, I transferred it to Metasequoia to make modifications and to make it easier to work on Pepakura.

I started by making some modifications to the mesh of the models and then I did a small preview in Pepakura to scale it later.

I started with something simple, the helmet, I did the unfold and almost immediately after I finished, I started tracing the pieces on the EVA foam.

The assembly started from the top, which is how I always begin. At first, it was a very flat piece that lacked shape and curves. Additionally, I added two strips along the edges to create a more faithful relief without having to use a very thin piece, and this gave more strength to the joint.

I finished the dome's frame and its front part, and I have to say it turned out very well. When I saw that progress, I was excited about how it was coming along.I also took the opportunity to smooth the edges of the dome of the helmet with a nail file.

Then I continued with the back part and I have to say that I left closing it until almost the end because I first put the L and R sides.

The last thing I had to do was the front part of the jaw and the side respirators, which I only held in place with masking tape to see how they looked.

and after a few weeks this was the incredible result that I obtained, And after a few weeks this was the incredible result I obtained, and that same day I proceeded to seal it and paint it. To seal, I used the Iris brand pegablock that they sell in Mexico, and the first time I used it in the construction of the odst it gave me a phenomenal result, so this time I used it again.

And once painted in red and turquoise from the Comex brand (a reliable Mexican paint), this is the incredible result of this keystone/MK VII piece.

I have to say that during the painting stage, I did it outdoors and it got dust during drying, making the piece porous, but I didn't dislike it at all and neither did my friend, in his own words: 'it gave it a more realistic metallic effect and I loved it.'

Update number 2 shoulders and gloves

First, I want to start with the news that I finally managed to put a visor on the helmet, and I love how it looks.

After that, I set myself the task of unfolding the shoulder pads that I already had in the original file, but then I realized that it was basically very, very difficult to achieve good detail of them due to the pieces that are omitted in the Halo 4 files. so, I better chose to search in the halo 5 files, and it gave a much better result than here can be seen in the comparison of both.

For the construction of the shoulder pad, I had to use a heat gun to give that rounded finish to the piece, it's just that I don't have any photos of that since I forgot to take some during the process haha.

I have the photos of how they were finished so I will leave that here; it was a result that I loved, and talking with the guys from Discord, they told me that they gave a heavy look, and that is the idea.

By the way, that orange strip that you see, I used it to keep it fixed to the bicep and it worked quite well.

Paint section
Just like the helmet, the process was the same, and for the paint, I used the design from Halo 5 mixed with the gray parts from Halo 4, and this was the result.

Gloves section

For the gloves, I did use the files from the Halo 4 foot, but it is not the same design since I chose to make them more similar to the standard of Halo 3. I made this decision after two previous attempts trying to be similar to the file.

Additionally, I added rings to the fingers to try to make it look more like a Spartan from Halo 4.
