A solid cylinder within a hollow cylinder would be the way to go. You could use anything from wooden dowel to billet aluminum. If you wanted it to have multiple locking positions, I would go the route of the US Military's M4 stock, but instead of putting the ratchet locking mechanism on the butt stock, you would put it in the upper receiver of the weapon. If you just wanted to have a two position butt stock (retracted and extended) then a spring loaded limiting button could be installed (like what you would find on a pair of crutches or an adjustable handle on a vacuum). This would allow it to lock into position when fully extended, and a simple depress of the locking button would release it to either be removed or retracted. To do the latter version, it would be simpler if the inner cylinder was hollow.

thanks!
I would like to have multiple locking positions. I will look into the m4 stock.
finding something that already exsists and i can modify to fit would be ideal.

Thrift stores or local hospitals are a good place to find old crutches or canes. Cutting out the adjustable tube part and epoxying into the stock should work.

I would so something like the HK MP5 with the collapsable stock or the AAC Honey Badger's collapsible stock and hide the rods in the odd protrusion things on each side

Just cut a telescopic broom handle.

while it would work it would defenitly look and feel of collapsing the stock. I would like to have it a more military and real feal

That where the collapsible stock like in the mp5 or the AAC honey badger, those two styles would be perfect basis to get your ideas from and you can hide the rods or sticks whatever you want to call them can be hidden inside raised trapsoidal is looking ridges that are already on the sides of the gun and you can quite easily be able to make a locking lever of some kind to be able to adjust the stock to whatever length you want.

You might try going to a sporting goods store and getting an Airsoft or BB gun collapsing stock and modify it. I'm currently making an SMG with a sliding stock and I used a slider rail for a drawer. Pics Below.

This is one of the items I was thinking of if you wanted to do a multi-position butt stock. This one is from a cane. It would be simple to cut to size and conceal.

I looked into it a lot and did a few test builds but nothining I am happy with. so first im just going to finish the thing.
Its all wired up and the electronics ready to go. finished with a filling primer but a lot of faults i never even saw before are popping up now.
Ow i also made a magnum pretty happy about that one :)
Now onto painting

that is really awesome, i agree with Assassin4627 the airsoft gun is a good idea

if you decide to go for the airsoft stock idea id recommend using an M14 EBR stock instead of an MP5 stock it will be more expensive and probably time consuming but i think it would look better than the MP5 stock :p also amazing work with the body absolutely stunning and its not even painted

This is very interesting, might I inquire what you used to make the outer detailing/shell?

the shell is fiber/resin, the loose details are cast,
the magnum is 3d printed.

little update. dont know what to paint it now. give it the classic reach treatment or something unique.
