I Used The Story Idea For A Tesiv Mod

i've been typing up some short stories here and there, but i got a brilliant idea

I was sitting here doing homework in english and listening to music and i heard the lyrics "demons of my own design" and thought, GENIUS

why not make a story where a scientist (sometime in the medieval era) creates a few demons (7 seems to be my favorite number today) and has to hunt them down and kill them?

hmm....
...ill get to work on this when i can, but what do you guys think of it?

EDIT_

you know what, i think i might just make it an oblivion mod instead

sure, books are great, several people can read the same book and see different worlds in it, but you can't see everything in the world, you can explore that world, and you can't talk to people in that world, so thats why i am going to make an oblivion mod instead.

I've been working on it for awhile now, and i have like 1/25 of the world finished (it is a HUGE world, bigger than tamriel, so it will take along long time to make)

here are some pics:

Characters-
Leon Andercliff
<a href="http://img511.imageshack.us/my.php?image=leonanderclifflb7.jpg" target="_blank">Leon Andercliff
</a>

New town-
Lower Class (south) / Middle Class (north)
Upper Class

Old town
Stairs between new and old town
Destroyed Old Town

Do these demons represent the 7 deadly sins represented by his own personality? The best or worst parts about himself reaking havoc on the community and he has to stop them before he is consumed and becomes the ultimate antichrist. Just a thought. Let the mood flow......

Ithica

actually i was think of 7 because it's one of the most common use numbers in fairy tales, but that is much much better

my friend, you are a genius :D

I tend to have a few good ideas and my mind wanders allot...keep us posted. I'm interested in how this turns out.

trying to name the characters now..

i'm thinking of Leon Andercliff for the main character
ill come up with the others later, but what should the demons be?

should i give them names, or just call them "demon of _" whatever they represent?

hmmm... decisions decisions...

also, i think i might make this into an Oblivion mod after this

and i had another idea, each chapter has one demon in it, so i can just name the chapter after the demon?
maybe...

but it'd be 7 chapters, not exactly long but thats sort of short (even for a short story)

For names, watch the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode "Space Mutiny". you'll get a few ideas from there. xD But on a serious note, for my WWZ stories, I basically took my friends names and changed them slightly. IE: Tyler became Taylor. Hope this helps :3

Another approach to the whole name thing might be to take some friends' names and reverse them. I did this for a sci-fi novel I'd started writing back in high school (never finished it though; hell, didn't get past page 50, lol). For example, I took the name Marena and switched it around so that it read Aneram ("Ann-er-ram"). Laura became Arual ("Air-ru-all").

Since you'd mentioned taking on more of a fairy tale/fantasy approach with the story and characters, doing something like that would help to give the other characters really unique-sounding names. At least, from what medieval/fantasy stories I've read the characters always have odd names like that, lol.

Just an idea, anyway ;)

EDIT: And yes, personally I think you should give names to the seven demon characters. Even if they're supposed to represent aspects of the scientist's own personality this will help to build thier individual personalities. Having a certain name immediately infers things about that type of character, so make sure you choose names that best suit them. Each of these demons, representing different aspects of the main character, will have thier own character traits and mannerisms based on what aspect they represent, after all. Giving them each a name will help the reader to better identify with them.

LMAO!

*Nudge nudge wink wink* huh? :D lol

Well, let's try those two, for example:

Dave = Evad ("Eve-add")

Ithica = Acihti ("A city" or "A seaty"; silent H in both, long "E" in the second pronounciation)

See, you can have a lot of fun experimenting with that, adding different pronounciations than just the simple phonetic sound. Just to give you a better idea of what I meant in my post above, darkm

i think i might go with these for a few main characters

Leon Andercliff
Rutie Katara
Stahn Airelohn
Vell Andercliff

all ofthose sound good to me, well accept for Vell, what the hell does that even mean?? i dont know and i cam up with it :\

I would have the ultimate reason for putting the fragmented personality demons down be that each part will summon the medieval demon patrons of the seven sins. (ie. Greed will unchain the Leviathan etc.) Just a thought.

And throw a few normal names in there for fun. I mean if you have most folks named something like Thimbimblestick of Vahrous the 3rd, then having a major support character named something like John or Charles really sticks out.

I just got an idea of one of the demons...

maybe one of them can be his memory, and he kills this one last and remembers everything at the end, and end it with a cliff hanger

or, maybe i can make each demon a part of his memory, and each one he kills unlocks some memories?

and i feel it is appropriate to name this story "Demon Crisis" for some reason

Sounds like a good title, but something else you should give some thought to is the plot of the story. It doesn't really make much sense to a reader for the main character to have just created these demons/personality aspects just for the hell of it.

You need to come up with a reason (character-driven action) or a cause (environment-driven action) that resulted in these other characters being created in the first place. Otherwise, it might not be such an enjoyable read for someone if the demons just happen to be there "because they are". Know what I mean?

P.S.: If you're not sure what I mean by "character-driven" and "environment-driven" let me know, and I can explain more in-depth.
