Hi. I'm Jeff and I'm a alcoh... Oh, wait... j/k Ok, I'm new here to the 405th thanks to curiosity and actually looking at making my own Spartan armor. What started out as the endevor to just find something to wear for Halloween has morphed into so much more. I'm a huge Halo fan and got to looking at armor and saw how much it can cost for a set, then said, "There's got to be a way to make this and it not cost $6000." My wife supports me in her own way, usually involving much sarcasim and mocking, but she is behind me all the way.

hey dude, welcome to our group! you will find that it will be a tough journey! I wish i could have a picture of me in my suit, but this restriction of KB keeps me from posting my pics. If you like i can send you by email, just to show you what you could expect. My advice is to start strong, go for the HD versians, IT LOOKS WAY BETTER, and trust me. it may be harder, and longer, it will be worth it. Start from the boddom up, never finish the helmet first always last. its a phycological thing, just trust me. think of things to help the time go by with folding the pepekura, it will take time. I folded all my armor, except the boots and handplates, in about a 36, but that is all together, no breaks or so. good luck! so, ya if you want to see the pics and maby to help you be more motivated, just tell me and ill send a few to you! they are of halo reach night, we finished it last minute!

oh, and it wont take 6k, my suit cost me less than 200 bucks. Ill tell you more of the supplies if you like, they are pretty handy, and not too expensive.

I'd love to see any pics you have of your gear. $200 is a LOT cheaper, lol. This will be my first attempt at a project like this, so I'm pretty stoked!

I'm thinking about building a papercraft assault rifle first to get a feel for how the materials work. Figure it will be a nice way to get my feet wet with this project before diving head long into a set of armor.

wow, well, when you are done with your assault rifle, you will find your armor is quite a bit easier. The only two peices that will take the longest and are the hardest are the fore arms, and the chest peice. everything else is pretty smooth sailing. remember to take your time on the paper cut outs, it pays to be slower on those. Another tip, try to make a small line or indent or i dont know what its called on the lines to help the folding go better. i ran my knife over the dotten lines lightly then the folding was alot easier. so ya, take your time, and have fun!

Yeah, I ended up changing my mind and have dove in head long at making a Noble 6 helm. Not sure if this will be my helm for my armor, but its getting my feet wet either way. Got a lot done to it today, but still have so far to go...
