Is This Forearm Armor Accurate?

Heyo, So I've been printing for about a month my full armor Recon from Halo 3. And I'm curious. Is the gap in this forearm armor normal for halo 3 armor? And you think it's manageable with padding? The thing is my hands are large so it's a bit hard to fit them through the from forearm hole so if I made it smaller then I can put it on at all. I know there's solutions like magnets and stuff, but honestly I don't wanna waste more filament printing this again if I really don't have to.
