Just a thought, what if some sort of local 405th groups could be created as a sort of co-op for armor building and representation and even recruiting? I mean they could be formed as companies in the 405th. Either in the traditional manner of alpha company bravo company ect, or maybe my location designation like DFW company for dallas fort worth area? Well the general thought is that not all of us have the space/skills/resources to build our own armor but as local groups the overall cost per person would go down, and since the accumulated skill would be high. the quality (in theory) would be high.

any thoughts?

first, wrong place to post, should go in 405th discussion, but secondly ideas like this have been gone over a lot, nothing along those lines will happen until the 405th gets it's charter finished, however, if you can get together with local friends, that's a great way to improve your armor and help the 405th (I believe Adam, Spase, Sigma, and Bluerealm already do this). But officially calling it a company won't happen until the charter is ready.

This has already been bandied around through Excalibur to some degree - the idea that local factions would be able to pool together some resources to make armorcrafting more easy and efficient while retaining the armor quality.

I myself will be allowing any Excalibur member the use of my produce in return for aid and other products, all based at T.E.NET. Gamma. My produce will of course be offered up to other members at cost-price.

The current word is that a charter to organize the 405th is being 'worked on' in a private section of the forum.

Personally, I say just find some local armorers and have a get-together. I wouldn't count on a charter being available to make anything official for a while- there have been no deadlines set for it other than 'by dragon-con' (late august).

There's a geolocation map somewhere around here you can use to find others near you, or you could randomly bump into people like I have- "*reading forum* Oh, 'Tally'. Guess that means here, hm."

It'd be nice to have some kind of unofficial means of finding a local group in the meantime, though- maybe people hosting local get-togethers could start a thread or something?

well in that case then why not use this thread, or one like it, to help organise unoficial meet ups?

i doubt it but if theres any irish members who i dont know about and who want to meet up through xbl or for armour makin-ness (under the Excalibur banner of corse) lemme know

well i live in texas and dont have armor yet. Im limited by space to do so, and i dont think that my superiors here on base would be over-enthusiastic about me using govt property for personal gain. but on that note. anybody in the DFW area want to get together?

yeah, well i dont ride a horse or have an oil well either. but eventually id like to ride a horse in Mjolnir armor around my oil wells.....jk

Well, you could do regional companies. North-West, North-East, Mid-West... Texas...

Me and Jedistumpy are from Indiana. Thats not TOO far.

I live off the mainland (the Continental U.S.) by alittle bit. I live at the very tip of Florida, seriously the house i just moved aweay from was the second to the southernmost house in the united states... Im closer to Cuba than I am to the mainland...

And no one i know lives in south florida... at least not that i know of...

IM SO LONELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

yeah, i guess i would be the only one in the PA regiment, i could have my own meetings....WITH PUNCH AND PIE!!!! :D

if there is going to be regiments, meetup.com is definitley the place to do it, thousands of people do it, and its free!

my paintball team is part of it, there is a rank structure, and i think it could work.

Its a good idea, some of us Aussie spartans have been debating this already, but were all so spread out! so were just going to get together for some cons occasionally.

well even if ya'll start small im sure you could recruit people in your area. hang out at the local gamestop with some of your creations, some flyers for a get together im sure you'd get some interest. drop some flyers at a comic shop. when my life starts to slow down i plan on doing this myself

Just starting my armor but I'm all for it. RVB18 - I'm in s. IN...hour from KY. I don't see why it couldn't be done...best bet in my opinion right now is just get with fellow gamers who don't even know about the 405th and educate them! Bring them into the fold! (Can I get an Amen?!) That will not only grow our numbers here but also allow you to help/educate others.
