So, I was invited to a taping of 'Sci-Fi Science: Physics of the Impossible' w/ Dr. Michio Kaku (for the "Discovery: Science" channel)
It was in Manhattan and we showed up at around 5:30pm. When we got there, there were a few Star Wars folks (Bounty Hunters & Jedi's) as well as some other Sci-Fi enthusiasts - We had to wait outside, but it was cool - LOTS of pics w/ tourists and the like.
When we got it, the people running the taping we very cool - Lots of drinks of all types and some food too.
If you ever have seen the show, Dr. Kaku comes up w/ some form of sci-fi concept and how we would implement it in real life. We taped for 2 shows last night, so 2 topics:
1. Terraforming Mars - He came up with a way to place comets/asteroids to impact the polar ice caps, starting up a green house effect and then using bio-engineered algae to generate O2
2. Colonizing the Universe - Use swarms of ultra-small nanobots to spread out through the universe at near-the speed of light. The y would self-replicate on other worlds, and on some, create 'receiver units' that would 'build' people which would receive a download of our consciousnesses to them.
We were interviewed on what we thought of his ideas as well.
It was a heckova time - lots of fun - and Dr. Kaku was a warm, engaging person - So cool to meet him.
The show should be on in the fall - Can't wait to see it!
