Well ive been sitting around the forums lately asking questions and such, and decided that is was time to start some serious work. I decided to go with medium detail/hd (only for some parts) since i want to get it 100% done before halloween. i might replace some parts with hd later, but heres some pics of my latest progress.

I also have a cod piece that im working on, and i was wondering, if it doesn't fit around my waist, should i just cut in in half and strap it later, or sould i re-scale it?

Looking good! The forearm looks a little short but that could just be the pic. As for the cod, if it won't fit your waist I'd personally just cut it. If it's big enough for you to "slide" on, then you'll have a problem keeping it up unless you have enough undersuit to hold it up. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, i know that the forearm is a little small, but it helps to keep it on since it has a farely tight hold on my wrist yet still alowing room to get my hand in. most people wont care anyway, i mean to them its still cool.
Does anyone know any reeealy cheap dremels for me? i was going to add detail but i dont know if its $50 worth of detail. maybe my friend has one...

A dremel will be your best friend in making your armor (even though I'm not there yet). I've used a dremel for years on other projects and they can't be beat. Make sure it's wired (has a cord). Variable speed is a must! You should be able to pick up a "cheap" one for around $50 that has variable speed. If you are only going to use it on your armor, you could go cordless and still be under 50. You'll just have to watch the battery life. A corded one with a flex shaft attachment is the way I would go. Will cost a little more but in the long run will save you some headaches.

I Customize action figures alot, and demels are indespensable in this hobby or that. I picked mine up at target for 25 bucks (it was a durabuilt brand rotary). The bits aren't to great, but you can pick up a package of dremel brand bits for like 15 bucks. These bits fit most rotaries. It is one of the best investments I have ever made. It hasn't died on me yet, and its been going strong for over 2 years.

This one also came with the snaking neck, allowing very detailed work. However I never really use it.

Hope this helps

Adam

I think i may have found a few options for dremels.. so that shouldn't be much of a problem (thank god for ebay). Anyways, im working on the boot and my size test was a little small based off the length measurments of my boot (36cm long). soooo if anyone has any scaling suggestions for a size 12 boot go ahead. im gunna get me some fiberglass cloth today or sometime soon also, so expect some glassing to be done!

ps do u think that the forearm is ok enough to make another one the same size?

well it sure has been awhile, but i do have an update. well, i started testing fiberglass on my cod piece, and i didn't put enough hardener in on the 2nd half, so i let it cure overnight and it still hasn't dried. is there any way to fix this? help is much appreciated. on another note, i have been using crackheads tuts to do this, but was wondering, would it be easier to paint the resin on the piece of fiberglass after laying it in the pep, or continue dipping the cloth in the resin and placing it in?

Oh and one more thing, how do i attach the boot pieces to my real boots? just wanted to know so that i can scale the boots right.

Those Look Great! For The Waist If It Looks Like It Fits But The Waist Part Is Too Small Use Nylon Straps And Clips :D

Thanks guys, well ill just say it again. it has been 24 hours since i glassed my lacking hardener cod and it STILL hasn't dried. is there anyway to speed up the process??? hairdryer maybe?

EDIT

the cod piece is going in the trash...i guess its a good thing i started with an easy pep. im guna try some new glassing methods.

Could you put a picture of the cod piece before you throw it away, I'd like to see it. (If it's not a big deal/problem)

may i ask why? i only have one of my glassing the 1st half. when i threw it away, it was really deformed and disgusting.

Well, its been a really long time since an update. Ive been really busy between the start of school, armor, and life in general. I did get some good pep work done though. I pepped a MD forearm to replace the slightly too small LD forearm, I pepped a MD chest that is a little too big but its good enough for me, i also pepped an HD thigh and started glassing my left bicep which is why it isn't in the pics. A little extra that got thrown in there is my wip magnum airsoft gun. Ill explain that in a seperate topic in the weapons section. Enjoy!

Thanks! I forgot to ask, how do I attach the boot peices to my actual boots? I just wanted to know so I can know how to scale them.

i dont know if it depends what one your using or not but for the HD boots you just build it how it is and incert boots when its done because its 2 parts- the boot and then the strap

i dont know about the low def. i think its the same

looks good so far though ^^

Thanks, I have now pepped one of the boots and it looks big, but I scaled for length. I want to order some of the Matrix M-Tech terminator combat tactical gloves, but I just was wondering what size should I get? any info is appreciated

On a separate note, i am wondering why NOONE ever posts in any of my threads. I am a very active member and for some reason, nobody ever looks at/posts in my threads and then they end up getting pushed down the list and into eternity.
