lol, nice guys. Ive actually used pantyhose as a skin before, on the metal tail shown in the vid. I hadnt thought of the effects of it on my K'nex tail, but It'd be easy to try out. I'll let you guys know!

After adding some pantyhose 'skin'. Plus a short update vid that includes other projects. (vid was ment for youtube, sorry if it doesnt all belong on my thread)

Here are some up-close pictures of the two types of hinges.

Horizontal (left/right) hinges:

Note orintation of the purple 'L' brackets. Rubberbands string from the farthest white rods shown.

Verticle (up/down) hinges:

Verticle hinges are identical to horizontal ones, but with purple 'L' brackets all accross the base to act as 'stops'. The geometry of the strut is also different to create stronger mounts for the rubber bands (mounted on the blue rods). Notice the neccisarry reinforments at the tips to make up for the structural differance because of the mounts.

Hope this helps! If there's anything else you might need, just let me know.

The tail looks excellent. As for the bumps, wouldn't it be possible to wrap each link in some fluffy, soft material? Something that wouldn't interfer with the movement of the tail but pushes the pantyhose up so that the tail is smoother.

On a side note, that little dragon at 0:44 in the video was cool! After you finish the tail I want to see that little bad boy done. :lol

thanks for the detail pics. i worked on it tonight and got a lot of it done. i'll have pics tomorrow cause my camera is dead. now all i have to figure out is the base plate.

Final update: video tutorial. enjoy.

this should be enough for anyone to duplicate it. hope it works, and I'd like to see your versions if you get a working model!
