Okay ya'll have convinsed me of 2 things

1: The shield idea was overboard (even for me)

2: I realy realy REALY wan't to do this now just to prove that i can do this

now just to let you know my mind lives 100 million lightyears outside of the box :D

well thanks to all those who commented on this poject i am going to go cold fo a wilt till i finish the PEPing my amo please continue to coment they encouridge me so THX i'll post in a cuple weeks on my project :cool

First where do you plan to get your money from to do this with and please don't say your allowance because then you really don't have the funds to even get started on blueprints or even a couple of the parts that would be needed to do this. It is possible I mean look at the Honda Robot just strap some Halo armor on it and you're good to go but unless you have a engineering degree I really don't think you'll get this off the ground.

if you decide to go on with this project... i'd suggest you go first with the exoskeleton for your "power suit".

that'll convince people that you mean what your thread is saying and have proof that you have the capability of doing so your armor...

just a suggestion... many of us here are skeptic about your project and want evidence that this wip is going to fruition and not just a thread that will turn to dust and forgotten overtime...

Based on very little research, I'm going to say that you could technically do this. It wouldn't be economical though. If you really are willing to possibly waste thousands of dollars, you should build the frame thta will be holding the generator. you will need to design it so little or zero of the hundreds of pounds will be actually resting on your body, and can still move under its own power. There are a great deal of issues you have to work out. Start small, maybe only designing a leg first, then move on to the rest of the suit. This will take you a long time though. I would suggest drawing out all your schematics, for the frame, wiring, and power joints etc... then starting to build one limb at a time, out of wood. its cheap and easy to shape to what you need, although it likely wont be able to withstand the weight or pressure of a human in it. After Working out all the kinks in the first proto type, maybe move on to steel, to give the frame the nessecary strength, then maybe swap out some steel parts with aluminum in different areas to lighten the over all weight. This finished suit will likely be very large, will not fit into a fiberglass costume and once again, will cost a lot of time and moneyl. I'm not discouraging you, cause hey we all have to shoot big (If you shoot for the stars and fall short, You at least made it to the moon ;) ) but this is a huge project. Good luck :)

Well I have some rough and I mean rough (crapy) proto designs for the electronics and computer system so if you want to see them i'll put them up(note they are horrible looking and very un-kept

Wtch a show that comes on the Science Channel I think i's called Sci-Fi Science and it's repeating episodes of the show at the moment but one of the episodes is the possibility of robot building.

Come to the dark side we have cookies!

I came across this a while back. Cyberdyne systems (ohh sounds creepy) has a suit called HAL. Increased strength yada yada yada. Supposetly they are available for Rent in Tokoyo for like $2,000 a day. Cost of the suit who knows, but i know for sure I would love to throw one into a War Machine costume.

And for those who came to the dark side, we lied about the cookies.

crap i don't get Science Channel any more had to cut back on cable... but thank goodness for Discoverychannel.com i think Science chanel is owned bu the discovery Corp

*sigh* When will kids understand that this place is a costuming community, not a robotics, ballistics, or government military research site.

We make costumes out of rubber and plastic, not steel and circuits.

WE don't wear super advanced underarmor that will be able to lift hundreds of pounds with our bloody pinkies. We wear BDUs and cheap clothes.

YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO MAKES THIS! I don't really care what you have to say about what materials you'll be using, ect. It will never happen.

You say, "Keep telling me that it won't work so I can make it". Your flimsy 5 dollars a week allowance will never be able to get you the expensive materials and equipment you need to make this.

Some of the guys here make robots(I totally repect you guys!), but do you see them making robots that look human and fight like humans? No.

You said that your mind lives 100 milion lightyears out of the box. Do us all a favor and put it back.

Sure, call me mean. Call me an ass. I don't care. It's true and you know it.

why did no one call attention to the fact he is going to Pep/fiberglass the suit? shouldnt this amazingly high-tech suit be made out of some kind of Metal? or like a bunch of layers of Carbon fiber, or something.

well lots of the engieneis that wok for the govement ae over engeinering idiots (no offence) they make things more complicated than they need to be most often the most complex poblem can be fixed in the most simplist way

Wow. It's good to know America's youth have this all figured out, and as soon as the current generation of "over-engineering idiots" retire, everything will get straightened out. Keep up the good work.

I do like the fact that you put a poll in your original post. It's a good way to get a some anonymous feedback, without starting flame wars about the possibility (or impossibility) of these kind of ideas.
