Mk VII - Update time again

While doing some more updates focused on trying to get this to a T3 suit I instantly regretted this being a speed build. Trying to get it done quickly I didn't document nearly as thoroughly as possible meaning I don't have info on what scale I used or any of that somewhere that I could find. At least I did keep track of the specific paints I used.

Between GenCon, CGC, and HWC this year I've been picking a small set of updates to make. For GenCon I sanded and repainted some forearms I got from Frosty's old suit, revamped the wiring in my helmet, adjusted my biceps to wear more comfortably, and started on the next batch of updates. Between GenCon and CGC next week my aim turned to another new set of forearms (the ones I got from Frosty have an indent that digs painfully into my hand taking them off), new thigh plates, new belt, another swap out of a part on the biceps, repair where my cat got ahold of one of my calf plates, and start the last batch of items.

For the calf plate my cat had gotten ahold of one of them and chewed the foam. I started to rebuild it entirely but switched gears to cutting out the damaged sections, glued in the new pieces and sanded the part to rough up the paint before repriming and repainting. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but it'll work.

Thighs are entirely new with a goal to do what I originally wanted in my first set, to make the inner thigh entirely removeable so I don't have to remake all new thigh plates to account for weight gain or loss. I can just swap out the inner thigh part. The greeblies haven't been put on bc I'd resin printed them on the old set and this is where that I don't know what scale I used comes in. My plan is after painting and strapping to remove the greeblies carefully from my old set and apply them to this pair.

Everything else except the forearms had been printed awhile ago and just never motivated to finish. As of today they've got the metallic undercoat and last night applied some masking fluid on to prep for black paint today.

For CGC it's basically finish painting, adjust rigging, and time permitting readjust my chest plate lights.

Post-CGC to HWC
  • Ab wrap
  • Adjust boot top
  • Sewn Ankle cover
  • Attach chest arm gaskets
  • Swap out gloves w/ new version
  • Green thigh gaskets - will be swappable with black ones
  • Re-add speaker for talking
  • Stretch Goals
    • New knees
    • Watsmil pouch from scratch

In terms of CGC I'm cutting some items off my list. They're extremely close, but I want more time to think through quality. Everything has been painted and the new inner biceps and forearms have been fully assembled. I'm using elastic to hold the parts of the biceps together so that they have some give when I put them on or take them off.

Belt will be assembled today also using elastic but w/ some adjustments from my last setup to work with a harness. My main goal today is to make that harness system retrofitting parts that didn't get altered or remade to work w/ it, and weathering.

I decided to roll the remaining TODOs on the new thigh plates until after CGC as I want to hide the gaps as best I can given the inner thigh sections are completely removeable. Glad I still haven't removed the greeblies from the old ones. I'll keep those for CGC. The calf plate just needs weathering when all the rest of the parts get it, otherwise it's still fully wearable.
