Motivation pays off: My Halo cosplay is taking shape

Hey zusammen,

Hey everyone,

Almost a year ago, I wrote my first post here about my Halo cosplay - time for an update!

A lot has happened in the meantime: I've bought a new 3D printer, the Creality Ender 5 Max, and I'm really impressed by the device. The print quality is excellent and the results are really impressive.

As for the helmet: I abandoned the idea of converting the helmet I originally bought. Today my self-printed helmet is finally finished - and I'm super happy with the result!

Looking back, I'm happy about the many decisions I've made this year - and above all that I've been able to maintain my motivation throughout. Despite breaks or phases when things slowed down, I never gave up or allowed myself to be distracted by other hobbies.

I'm currently using Armorsmith to adapt the remaining armor pieces to my body proportions and then print them bit by bit. I'm really looking forward to the next steps!

If anyone has any experience with Armorsmith or the Ender 5 Max - please write something about it. I'm always open to tips and exchanges!

Best regards

Hey everyone,

I’m posting an update with some new screenshots and test-fit results and could use some targeted feedback.

I’ve set up my avatar in Armorsmith using my real measurements (I’m about 175 cm tall), but I’m still unsure whether my armor scaling is correct.

Since my last update, I’ve also reprinted the helmet in individual parts, because the helmet from the previous version turned out too large when test-fitted. The new helmet fits better overall, but it made me even more cautious about getting the rest of the proportions right.

So far, I’ve already 3D printed several parts, including forearm armor, a chest piece, a shoulder part, and the helmet, mostly in PLA, with a few test prints in TPU as well. When I test-fitted these parts, I consistently felt like there was too much “air” or empty space between the armor and my body, which made me question if some pieces are scaled too large.

In Armorsmith, I’m also seeing noticeable gaps between certain parts, especially between the shin and the boot, and some proportions don’t fully match my reference images. I’m unsure whether these gaps are typically corrected later through padding, strapping, overlap, or layering, or if this is a sign that I should rescale individual parts now.

My main concern is avoiding issues like the “bobblehead effect” and making sure the suit looks balanced and believable once worn.

I’ve attached updated screenshots and reference images showing my current setup. Any advice, experience, or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
