i'll give you a hint with battle damage... once you have it painted silver and it is dry, place a few dabs of petroleum jelly, toothpaste, mustard, anything like that, with the tip of your finger to your helmet around any inperfections that are cleearly visible in the silver coat, and around sharp corners and edges. after you paint it your permenant color, you can simply take a cloth and wipe away the jelly, toothpaste/whatever you choose, and voila! it reveals your silver undercoat in that area. once you're done with that, you can dry brush some areas of your helmet by simply spraying some of your base coat silver onto a brisle brush and gently painting on corners and edges... hope this helps!
