Hey guys, still fairly new to the 405th in terms of posting, but I wanted to show off a few pictures I have of my ODST Armor. I did this, with much stress and some sleepless nights, in about 60 days before it's debut at Outpost Discovery in Philly.
This is my first Halo build, and even though I wouldn't call it 100% accurate or 100% finished, I was still proud of what I was able to accomplish before Outpost. The armor pieces on the top half are all 3d printed, as well as the helmet. The vest and the straps were made from Pepakura files translated onto EVA foam, and the armor pieces are attached with straps, buckles, compression fitting, and hot glue. The thighs and the shins are also EVA foam, which I would like to update in the future (before getting approval to join a regiment).
I didn't take many WIP pics, but here's what I do have:
(Using filler primer for all my 3d prints)
(Detail painting on the belt buckle)
(Hand-painting the gray straps and silver buckles after using Plasti-dip to coat the chest piece. Buckles were made out of thicker craft foam and a couple of nails with the head and tips cut off)
(Attaching straps to the chest armor to attach to the chest piece. They actually hang from the back and over the shoulders, where they are attached to the chest with some velcro.)
(Attaching rib pieces with velcro, with the sides reinforced with a strap glued to the inside of the vest)
(Using wooden dowels to create belt loops for my butt plate. The original 3D print file had no way to attach them to a belt, so I came up with this. Works great!)
(My first completed helmet! I was so happy with this one. Visor bought from Sean Bradley's Etsy page. Wasn't a perfect fit, but I made it work.)
(Test fit of the entire chest piece with shoulders attached with buckles. Shameless bathroom selfie)
Making sure I had all my pieces for Outpost
Again, I do plan on updating this, as well as adding more detail painting, but right now I'm proud of what I was able to do in a few months. And I definitely plan on making more Halo props and armor in the future. I'll post more on here when I get around to making said improvements, but for now I'm taking a short break.
