here's a shot of the chest

man this stuffs a pain

yup Nerf Gun and Plasti-card, I used 1mm thick plastic card to make the back and clip extension so it still a fully functioning gun, and I sanded off all the nerf logo's. the Aquilla is also made from plasti-card so its a raised design I swear that was the hardest part cutting the design so small. I also printed out 2 Adeptus Mechanicus Sigil's then used HotGlue to make a bubble over them and glued them to inlays of the handle for a little more flair

so i just have to ask on behalf of my freind, who wants to get into the whole armor/prop making thing. would this be a good build to start him off on? it looks like it is fairly simple and large peices, so not as much precision (on my friends part) would be required. also it looks like it would be a great suit to learn to glass and bondo (skills i even need work on). so would this be a good suggestion for him?

p.s. i love the suit, never played the real game, but i loved DoW1+2. keep up the good work man!

The gun looks great, good job. Pepakura for space marine armour is pretty crazy... I woulda thunk carved foam and hard-coat would be the business. Good luck with the project ;)

cool i'm also starting on a space marine but can sombody send me good pep files or a link were i can download them? thx for your help anyway!

I have some in the thread linked to in my signature. Might want to look elsewhere for a different chest piece though.

little update as things are moving slowly once the semesters over the pieces should finish up fairly quick

my shoulder thus far, its been filler primerd then sandable primered to show contrast, wetsanded @320grit to reveal high and low spots and so far one coat of spot putty to eliminate those lows all wet sanded

also have the chest ready to do the same,.. its ready for a little primer action after I throw on some trim detail pieces I worked up

ok here is my chest so far,.. all relatively smooth and wetsanded theres still areas that really bother me because of how I applied the bondo in building it, which I hadnt had as much experience @ the time part of me is wanting to rebuild it so that it'll come out smoother the other part says it'll be fine

here on the shoulder I had painted it, but I wasnt happy w/ how the paint job came out,.. some spots were satiny smooth (paint style) some were still rough,.. like I threw fine grains of sands in the wet paint

I tried wet sanding some of these area's smoother hence the greyish areas and like the chest there are some really rought bondo areas due to my knowledge of application @ the time so I'm thinking of rebuilding them too, this time wouldnt take me very long to get back to a similar point. give me your opinions on if I should rebuild

I say finish this one through to the end. Battle damage it. Add your chest emblems...get it done. Later on you can always make a new one with greater knowledge and skills, but honestly I think once it has all the details and a good paint job on it, there really isnt going to be anything wrong with this one at all. Oh and by the way...best Nerf mod EVER, on the bolter!

To be honest the chest looks fine, and as for the shoulder, yes you're right, obviously it's not as smooth as it could be, but it doesn't need to be, or at least that one doesn't. You can still customise it enough to cover it up, after all it is a tech marine, and they have a load of stuff over them. Stick some piping crap through it, put an insertion hole in, and that gear skull thing they have on their shoulders some times. Don't worry too much dude, it'll look great, and you're doing a hell of a lot better than most of us who are working on space marine costumes.

Very nice work :0 I'm looking forward to reaching this stage.

Your pistol looks great, I may re-make mine once I've got my armour sorted.

A Tech Priest will be ace, how far are you going to go into the design i.e. backpack claw or just 'teching' it out with pipes/logos etc?
